I was heading home last night as per usual cutting a swathe of destruction through the back country byways north of the Auck(actually just cruising, but that sounded better in my head). I pulled up to a stop sign and in the darkness I see the outline of a stricken biker, no hazard lights, beside a single carriage 100Kph road with no street lights, hmm, trouble. So I pull up and flick on my hazards to make the poor bugger more visible.
It turns out that he was just cruising along on his trusty 80's K series Beemer and she went dead in the water. No spark, no lights, no nothing. Not being a mechanic he really was not going anywhere. So I had him whip off the seat and proceeded to check battery terminals, fuses, the ignition switch, all the usual culprits. Nothing looked even remotely loose or corroded.
Something caught my eye though, there was a very dim light glowing feebly on the dash, ABS, brilliant. Sure enough, in the suitcase sized box next to the six pack o' stubbies sized Motronic ECU sat the mother of all motorcycle ABS controllers! When I say big, this mother was Hoooge! Anyway I whip the plug out of the box and presto, all the lights come back on, stick the plug in and she's back to the twilight zone. So I tuck the ABS plug in so it wont move about, we throw the seat on and my new mate Scotty is off into the night with nerry' a splutter.
I thought it was a good feel good yarn, you never know who you might meet out on the road, so pull up and lend a hand, even if it is just to provide a set of hazard lights on a dark night.
I did however learn that karma is a feking lie!
I'm on the road 5 minutes later with some warm fuzzies flowing as my good deed for the day was done. Come round a blind bend and theres a fekin' double bed square in the centre of my lane! I dont think I've ever thrown my bike that hard on it's side before, what a nasty bitch of an obstacle to dodge at highway speed.
Shiny side stayed up though, so no :corn: for you lot today.

Good on ya.
I had a couple of guys stop and help out when I broke down a while back. Got me out of a sticky situation with minimum fuss.
Buy yourself a beer you deserve one!

Yup had a BMW rider stop for me in Christchurch after dead bike with electrical fail. He offered help and metric tools ( it's a Triumph mostly imperial and i had my ball of string) which i was very grateful of as well as the brief chat. It restored my faith in human mankind of the motorcyclist type. A previous topple over at a set of lights when my ( now discarded) rain leggings caught the footrest as putting foot down and around 30 cars just drove around me as I inconveniently blocked a lane, leaving myself to sort it, did fark all for respect for other motorists.

So it was dark, you were distracted, went around a blind corner and there was a big mofu of a bed on the road, but you managed to get around it anyway. Wouldn't say karma is a lie. :Punk:

Maybe if you had not been self-congratulating yourself so much and concentrating instead on your situation awareness the bed would have been less of an obstacle.

Always happy to stop for anyone in a short skirt or low cut top, whether they need help or not A mate did that at a set of lights, run onto karma, well close enough. Stopped to rubberneck a chick waiting for the cross signal. After a good drool, realised the lights had changed meantime so he gunned it and with mind in the gutter ran into a trailer being towed behind a car in front of him. The car owner stopped to check out the "bang" to find bike lying on the road, and rider lying in back of trailer with a dumb grin on.
Not going to mention any name but dude caused a road closure after Brass after being blown off his bike, he should go buy a lotto ticket.

Im guessing no, but could be wrong. Found a couple of round bales in the road on the way to a job one morning, shit those things are heavy. Luckily I was in my 4x4 and ended up pushing them off the road in that.:sweatdrop

Had to take some swift evasive action one wet wintery night to avoid a mattress parked in the middle of a winding taranaki backroad.......
Should make reflectors compulsory on the damned things.......?

I stopped... to check my undies.
A couple of cars stopped behind me though so I left it up to them, considering one was towing a trailer I assumed that the thing belonged to him and was once attached to said trailer.

You obviously missed the naked blonde laying spread eagled on the bed, horny as hell.
Her name was Karma, and you blew right by.
