Forgot to tell you lot. Passed my restricted at last on Wednesday! 3rd time bloody lucky. I only just passed. Think they're a bit hard on bikers at the Upper Hutt AA. I was like a messiah out there but only just passed. Failed the U-turn part of course as I had to turn around in a tight road with steering on full lock without dabbing your foot on the ground. If I had a trials bike it would've been sweet as a nut, but this was the CBR with a turning circle the size of the equator
Now thats over and done with, I can start racing :2thumbsup

That man deserves a DB! I dread u-turns - we have a HUGE area of concrete at our place (part of the 400sqm that makes up our driveway...) and yet the Goose can take most of it when turning! Wouldn't even try it on our road - no-white-lines country road - easier to get off and turn it around while walking!

Jeeze, sounds like they were pretty hard on you making you do U-turns. I didn't have to do that at my test.
Congrats on passing!

Still haven't decided what to do with it. Anyone have any other ideas for its fate?

You no longer need a L plate on a restricted? I allways found a good wheelie took care of a L plate... :devil2:

I wake up in the morning
And I raise my weary head
I got an old coat for a pillow
And the earth was last night's bed
I don't know where I'm going
Only God knows where I've been
I'm a devil on the run
A six gun lover
A candle in the wind
When you're brought into this world
They say you're born in sin
Well at least they gave me something
I didn't have to steal or have to win
Well they tell me that I'm wanted
Yeah I'm a wanted man
I'm colt in your stable
I'm what Cain was to Abel
Mister catch me if you can
I'm going down in a blaze of glory
Take me now but know the truth
I'm going down in a blaze of glory
Lord I never drew first
But I drew first blood
I'm no one's son
Call me young gun

Don't inhale too much of the smoke either, that plastic smoke is harsh.
Well done, although that whole u-turn thing seems like a stupid thing to test one on, When does one ever do a u-turn on full lock without putting a foot on the ground? It just seems stupid to even attempt to me.

It was even more stupid the first time I did the test. He said turn round in this street, so I go off and do a 3 point turn, being safer and less likely for me to go off and destroy the bikes nicely restored fairing. At the end of the test, he says I failed that portion of the test as I didn't do a U-Turn.
Thing was I completed 3 successful U-Turns with only dabbing my foot once in each of them. I shouldn't fail for that shouldn't I? A japanese ergonomically designed sportbike is not the easiest thing to turn tightly on, I think I did very well.

To be honest from the sounds of it they have been taking you for a ride the whole time. I don't know if the testing officer had any reason to fail you apart from your age, ie maybe your attitude to him for example. But I don't see how you can fail because he requested you turn around in a street, he failed to specify what kinda turn so how can he fail you for doing a three point turn?
Did you attempt to resolve this in your earlier test through discussion with your testing officer?

Yeah, I was all like "Fuck you man, you ain't the boss of me, I can do whateva I wan tuh" and like when he told me to do sommin, I'd be like "Fuck that shit"
I was very polite I thought. At least I have my restricted now so I'm happy

[shrug]. I do them everyday, turning into the little bay where I park the bike at werk. Wouldn't matter if I did dab, but it's just as easy not to. Can't say I see anything stupid about it, especially on the Whale which is big and heavy and easy to fumble and drop once feet are down. You have far more control feet up.

I can, but I'm going to focus on racing instead. CBR won't be on the road for a while
