I have noticed that Yamaha carb cleaner has had very good reviews over the years. No Idea if you can get it or even find a Yamaha dealer in NZ .......
Supercheap is bound to have a can of XXXXX brand carb cleaner!

super creep do have a reasonable can of carb cleaner...i think about 13$...bought some last week...if you strip all the fragile rubbery bits out and spray clean or soak the jets and bowls before cleaning up with something less chronic you should be sweet...
and careful with the cleaner, your air compressor and your eyeballs...it freakin hurts like a bastard when you catch a stray drip bro...
good luk

Thanks yes i probley still get myself in the eyes i had suffric acid dilluted in the eyes at
work . bleach . u name it hehe
i usally just soak jets in petrol done that holes blocked on in each main jet at the end .
done that , do i have to take cv diaprams rather not. as save cost new seals.
i never found cracked one yet but dont want damage them with compressed air.
i usally just blow the carbs with me gob.. but never had bike that didnt idle so assume
need smething bit more . i be tempted soak whole thing as submerged , but dont have
big enough contanier not going to seprate them. any tips be good.
as i said i cleaned xl 100 , xr 200 carbs just not multi cylinder jobs.
thes have plasic slides so something be carefull of not damaging .
thanks for your help guys

bro just chuck a handful of VERY FINE sand in the airbox, it'll slowly draw through your carbs, like sandblasting the inside of your engine but Heaps easier.

The cleaner PineSol works well, just soak 'em over night
Carb cleaner and compressed air works well
Ultrasonic cleaning is best
Use a magnifying glass to check your jets etc when re-assembling and make sure your hands are clean.

I think I have some orings for the pilot screws somewhere ;)
If you're having problems with the diaphragms seating, use something to hold the slide up a little to take the tension off the rubber

nah something is wack with the 97/98 fireblade yearing in NZ.. the 98 blade is next gen, diff fairings n stuff to the 96/97 RRV which is the only one to have the double slots in the tail, the 98 one has diff instruments.. diff fairings and shape, honday prob fucked with heaps of stuff for the revised model. but for some reason there seems to be 98 bikes here registered and listed as 97 bikes.. or something.
I often got what they told me were 97 parts from honda dealer which were not for the RRV but for the next version

Jack it up on the RHS on the lower part of the frame, swingarm or suspension linkage so it leans over on the side stand. :niceone:
Bloody nice looking project you have yourself mate, I'd kill (not really) for a 'Blade like that

well as the first good bike after two lemons well vt 250 was a lemon
vt 500 not sure if i get fired up .
this was 3rd 900rr firblade first i won and ticked insurance guy of cause asked to
have little time to come up with money .. got rather cross with me.
that was crashed yellow one in auckland . was another i got out bidded on
white damm intenet went down on me grr so been 2 years trying.
Most i cant afford 5000 for newer one. yeah am surprised was alot better
Than hoped for .. vfr 750 was gamble cause the chassis . fairings front light.
spent 2000 on it just in second hand parts love the bike..its
got charcter the sound wonderfull its more sedate it take you around.
its solid it gets warm though rear cylinders cook you in summer .
cbr cost me 1500. 700 for re vining tires 2 x oil its going cost more than i
get to sell..i started it the risk is the engine if its good great.
Oh on starting it i cant say i went wow .. i go wow this is light..
I rode down the street few feet no brakes engine didnt idel so didnt feel
comfortable didnt feel great i must say low bars well see.
I sell it mind you i dreaded ridding vfr 750 and ended up loving it who knows.
what nice delemia love your kawaski what your done is brillent.
you way more tallented than me i just bolt things on you change things.
chain and pads all round .
ps guy brought from great guy he didnt crash it either .. good dealing with good people.
everthing said about bike was 100 % right

I but two car jacks under the forks too push them up. mistaken idea
I choudint work out why brake hose and master cylinder fit not long enough..
doh oh yeah clip ons under the top clamp.. know got mover forks in lower clamp.
with vfr 750 i used mx5 rim and tire but sold it aghhh sat on that for month ..
no forks thet first thing got rid of 2/12 hours drag the bitch opps my lovley bike
sidways into shed . no wonder they came of .. gee bike ugly with no forks.
no front wheel . ever ridden bike with no front mud guard. i have talk about
in your face exp on wet day oh my.. ;-) Honesty nah i found whole exp
nasty trying move forks and bloody bike moving.
I thought building a raised platform and ramp up to it .. but think thats bit
nasty too dont think work. and 180kg still 180kg. if falls on you.
so i take of the honda wheel (tire saver spare useless for the task)
jack it up on header as save possible damage to sump . then slide
the whell under , another problem with it was rear wasint flat on ground either.
not good when taking front one of to do the forks.hehe

If your garage has a strong roof, you could always hold the front up on the jack and then put ratchet straps up through the rafters? I do it when taking forks off in my garage
