Dainese cafe boots in NZ?

So I'm looking to buy a pair of these in the near future:

Has anyone seen them for sale in NZ, or more specifically in Wellington? I would love to try them on to ensure the correct size, rather than order online and guess wrong $300 later.


They just look perfect for commuting/round town wear, which is a good percentage of the riding that I do. Also, boots > all other forms of footwear.

Best bet would be to check with Motomail, they are the only Dainese motorcycle gear retailer in NZ that I'm aware of. Not sure if they plan on bringing them in though.

One thing to be aware of too (if you end up purchasing online) is that Dainese gear is generally very fitted and runs small. Their sizing doesn't seem to correspond to standard European sizing in the pants and jackets at least.

Just buy some army boots from a surplus store? They look very similar and are probably equivalent in comfort and safety and 1/5 the price.

I have considered that, but I think the difference in protection is much greater than people give it credit for. Having seen my dad's leg after he came off at a roundabout, I am certain I want a lump of hard armor on my ankle and leather extending well above it.

GSF, what's your experience with dainese boots? The reviews I've seen say that these run about half a size large, so I was thinking of going for a 41 (I'm usually in between a 41 and a 42) - do you think I should go the other way?

I think it would be just as cheap to buy them from somewhere like revzilla as it would be to ask motomail to order some. I might try out that whole "shop as if you live in america!" thing NZ post have been advertising lately.

I dont think they are anymore as the wholesaler has changed. Cycletreads are doing it now.

My ancient army boots have steel toe cap, steel shank in the sole and reinforced heel and toe boxes. Nice thick leather too, Docs are shit.

My 11'' Matterhorns have a kevlar toe cap and shank, Gortex and Thinsulate, they are no ordinary work boot. I'd rather have them than some street motorcycle boot.

I bought stylmartin Indian boot from motolegends out of the uk. great boots but check the VAT status. I got 40's which are perfect. Fyi
