Living in Queenstown for 3 months of the year riding the bike is not really an option. snow, ice ,grit are not a good combination with A motor-sickle.
So for me I ski in winter, and the bikes parked up.
What do you do? Ride the bike for fun, ski for fun and no motorcycle for the winter, or do you swing Both ways?

Imagine Can Am Spider with tracks and skis rather than wheels. Yes, you do want one.

Come one, give us queenstowners a break. The weather and road conditions are not biker friendly. I take it you like to stay upright? Have a great snow ride by the way!

Fresh snow is fun to ride in, but I do agree with leaving the bike at home if the snow has been compacted to ice. I'm only a few kms away from you and I still ride almost right through winter. However, tomorrow I might be a wuss and take the truck to work. A forecast - 10 is even too cold for me.

Ice is only fun if you are off road and are having a laugh, not great on the road.:oi-grr: Snow cat would be fun around the south at the moment, are there still some at shingle creek, anyone?

Scratch that. Go to a local pet shop and buy eight dogs and make a sled.

Will let you know tonight, should be able to see it if we get to the top of the dome. And as for getting dogs to pull a sled, you gotta be dreaming. All the dogs down here have only been trained for one thing, and thats chasing and holding sheep so the likes of Kiwi Cowboy can corner them in the back paddock for a bit of farmer/stock bonding.:pinch:

Riding every day to work. No (free) parking for a car.
Will be driving to the snow most weekends for snowboarding. So no fun motorcycle riding until summer probably.

Good on you for riding thru winter. The powder snow today makes up for no biking!

I have always wanted a snowplough as a commuting vehicle. One with the massive V shaped plough on the front.
I would drive it along the D'auckland motorways at peak hour, sitting on the white line and tossing cars into the sidelines.
Film it and post it on EweChoob I would!
