Yeah Drew, just the 1 entry fee per sidecar, the $195 doesnt inc Fri unofficial practice/ testing.
There are 25 solos coming from Aussie & 12 sidecars, should be good fun

The Pre 72 Rule cutoff is October 1972, but models that go unchanged past that , eg given in rules is a CB 750 are eligible.

Would that mean that a 75 Norton Commando 850 would be allowed to run in pre 72?

The Oct 72 seems pretty clear...the exceptions are vague....

racer40
30th June 2013, 10:09
Hi Guys, not sure if Kevin has got back to you yet, But the reasoning behind it is that for a MNZ championship ( ie GP or TT ) then you have to have a championship licence, at an extra $100 (last year) and not enough wanted to do that, same as the classics, they wont be running their TTs at this event, there will still be some feature races of some sort.

As of last nights meeting there are now 68 bikes entered, that does not include any of the Aussies of which there are now 29 solos coming in the containers ( i believe another Aussie has brought a NZ bike for the event & we find out next week re Cam Donald ) 11 Aus sidecars are racing in the modern class which means 17 so far in that class & 2 more Aussies on period 4 bikes will race in the post classic/ classic sidecar class. And yes our own Kiwi biker scribe Choppa has entered on a ..... I will leave that to him.

Looking at entry form, classes 1 - 10. All defined by MNZ gen rules and supp rules.
Easy for 3,7,8,9,10.
Correct me but I can't find the other rules in the MNZ rulebook or supp rules in the entry form. I can find "modified", and "clubman" but all the others PC2,F3, PW etc etc I can't find.
If the organisers forgot to include some supp rules, where do I find them now? And will they be valid now the permit is signed off/entries are out?

malcy25

Oyster, without getting into the semantics of rules that are not in the MNZ rule book those classes are the NZCMRR's own club level classes. Details should be here

Freshening up one's lingo is to reacquaint oneself with the implementation of 'strine' so as not to cause a socially uncomfortable happenstance.

Well guys, Aussies containers unloaded with no snakes in them, 23 solos & 11 sidecars in total ( they could have got 3 or 4 more bikes in but some people pulled out at last minute ) and big news Hampton Downs Management have told me today the pit garages dont leak anymore, apart from when windy the water can blow under doors.

Hi everyone, due to Graeme Cole having an accident he is unable to swing on the Matchless at the BS so I'm looking for someone to fill his role. Anyone interested can give me a call on 0276058538 or come see me at Hampton Downs (classic sidecar number 95). Thanks, Nev.

What a great weekends racing. Shame about the parade ending, some people will never listen. Spyda as commentator was great. His commentary adds a lot of humour as well as the knowledge he has of the various riders and the bikes certainly keeps the spectators up with whats going on.

I think that's probably just a list of the fastest lap times for the riders listed. Nice to see the see that the Matchy is faster than Gordy's 800/1060/1288cc BMW :motu::yes: Yeah that John character is a bit elusive ;)

No the live timing said the Oz crew Pym? had done a 1.11 in the same race Lovell started from the pits, so I couldn't understand why Lovell caught them so fast, Gordy and Steve sometimes didn't show until they'd done a lap or two, pretty hard on gear those two, how many rebuilds did it get?

Only one.....It had a partial siezure on the left piston so they took the complete top end off and put a standard 980 barrel on with standard in-port head so it ended up looking like last year...all lop-sided  I said it looked like a sidevalve :nya:

Ran this on my phone on the weekend, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.racechrono.app
It maps the track and shows you the speed around the whole track.

The old BMW managed 166KMPH, # 50 Honda 1000 sidecar 189kmph.
It does lap timing too.
Chews thru the battery though.

It doesn't, still not sure why transponders aren't used since we have a good service for that and Marktime's lap times are comically inaccurate. The results work well, and the lap progression chart they produce is great, but the laptimes should be taken with a large pinch of salt.

As a swinger I would love to say ... "yep Tracey went off-roading, it was her fault". Unfortunately it was all me, never have I been involved in such close racing and I wasn't keen to rub shoulders with a sidecar and so I moved my upper body to avoid getting my shoulder sideswiped, but moved a bit too much taking too much weight off that left side . Lesson learnt :D
