I sometimes go to a website and the image window is blank except for a tiny icon in one corner. Am I missing a programme to open these pictures? And no, these are not porn sites. :oi-grr:

Surf more porn sites as that just doesn't happen... supposedly.
No doubt is will be because the file extension is .png. Older systems are not able to open that type of file.

Got an example?
Usually, it's because it used to link to an image, but the link is broken, maybe the image was moved, deleted, or the directory renamed.

This is a motorcycle website. The images on this page wont open. I'd be interested if the images come up for you. My laptop runs W7 home premium edition.

The images on that page don't work for me either. Win7 Pro, Firefox 21.0
I'm thinking the images have been moved or similar.

The images have been linked to from http://www.2wheels.co.za which is currently under construction... so I guess they've been deleted or moved as Gremlin says.

Now I've/we have a bigger problem. The earth no longer exists. I opened Google Earth this morning, and the whole world has disappeared:(.
Was going to plan a marathon ride in September but have nowhere to ride. The G Earth window opens but there's just a big black window. Nothing on the page is live. I re installed the programme but still the same.
Did anyone else sleep through a big bang?

Are there porn sites on the Internet?

Porn sites are something I have never visited with this laptop. But I must have picked up a bug from somewhere. The whole pc seems to have slowed right down within the last 3-4 days. Programmes, folders etc take forever to open and close. The internet seems to be normal but offline keyboard functions are dead slow.

Have you tried a different browser for the pics?
In regards to the slow down, right click on the task bar and choose Start Task Manager.
Click on the Performance tab of Task Manager to see if the CPU is doing anything when you aren't i.e. above about 15%. Take a note. Also take a note of the Memory usage as it may be almost full.
Navigate to the Processes tab.
Click on the button on the bottom left that says "Show processes from all users".
Click on the word CPU of the CPU column to order Ascending or Descending. If something other than "System Idle Process" is at the top (the highest percentage) or you have anything running at over 25% (that isn't System Idle Process) note it.
If that has done nothing, click on the word Memory of the Memory column to order Ascending or Descending. Note anything that is over 100,000 K.
Let us know what those values are.
(If you can't be arsed, open the internet browser of your choice, navigate to the search box and type in "Fucked up porn", follow the first link, and post the results or at least a link here).

What processes are using the CPU? the memory seems pretty standard. Do you have any updates for software to automatically download and install? I've been having issues with flash over the last few months hanging pages and not showing images and I believe there are a few threads on t'internet that are pointing to issues with flash and google stuff. If flash hangs it may prevent images from loading for some reason as it happens to me on occasion.

Windows updates seem to load all the time. I dont know if they are all needed. I tend to click on the critical updates and ignore the others.

So what's using the 14 - 16% CPU?
You could also try downloading a tool call Fiddler as it will monitor the network traffic going to and from your PC. It's pretty much a point and go... overkill like, but point and go.
