Most of you have probably seen this utube clip, but some may not have. Not part of the movie. Some nice close up photography. Quite a few clips on the B17, I like this one.

Coincidentally, I just started watching the movie tonight. (I have a dvd player and tv set up in front of a treadmill at home so I can watch movies of that ilk while I exercise.)

The original movie (shot in 1944) was great, just a documentary, raw, rugged, real! - didn't like the modern remake much. The B17 in the clip is the movie MB, the original is part way through a total restoration....

The model they used for the movie is huge, and iirc it uses LPG for the flame effects on the turrent guns...intimidating close up.

They used a real B-17, the "Sally B" which flys out of Duxford Imperial War Museum:

Dunno why everyone gets so misty-eyed about B17's, they only carried 1/3 of the bomb load of a Lanc.

Would be an awesome experience. $450 per person is a wee bit of coin for a 20 min flight though, espesially if you have a large family. But in saying that, these guy have to fund the good work they are doing too.:niceone:

They were selling flights on the B17 in my previous post for around $400. Totally sold out but unfortunantly the weather turned to crap and all flights was cancelled.

Thats awesome that they sold out, maybe it will encourage others to do similar restoration projects, which I am all for.:Punk::Punk: Dissapointing about the weather for them though. Personally I would rather spend my money on getting a longer ride in the local tigermoths out towards fiordland, but were all want different things in life aye.:niceone:
