Sky did not try hard enough....they are happy to take subscription $$ but when it comes to spending that money on something we want to watch they very quickly seem to have deep pockets and cant reach the money at the bottom. Good riddance Sky TV...you brought this demise on yourself with your arrogant attitude and contempt for your customers...enjoy the slippery slope to irrelevancy.:motu:

not just sky ,,
sky sorts mind set i feel applies to a lot of businesses in NZ , bike shops for example
failing to grasp the new playing field
Ok Motogp is a minor sport ,and as is soccer in NZ ,
it does highlight the arrogance of te sky sport management ( we have the rugby so all is ok )
Rugby probably is the most watched sport in NZ , but the changing demographics may put paid to that
and we have long memories
IMHO , Epic fail sky sports ....

ps Never heard of motor gp anyway , is it like motorbike racing or strictly come dancing ??

My understanding is that Dorna wanted a very large increase in prices for all sorts of coverage, not just TV. It isn't only SKY that wouldn't cough up.
Parish and Cox don't seem all that popular, sometimes the Poms (and Yanks) don't even know what Cox is on about. Being an Australian, and being given to a "colourful" turn of phrase, his meaning sometimes gets lost in translation.
One example, "Lorenzo is riding hands and heels." That had most of his viewers stuffed although antipodean people of a certain age would have understood. Be mildly interesting to know if that description means anything to the youngsters hereabout?

I actually like Charlie Cox commentary because he comes out with alsorts of interesting phrases. I know it's something that only Kiwis and Aussies will understand but that's fine by me.
Not so keen on Steve Parrish though.
But the Toby/Jules/Spalders combo is still the best in the business, although at times it's been difficult to tell that Steve Day has replaced Toby at certain races.
114 now.
Think it's going to 14.
I can't find any 114 or 14 on my Freeview? I just run the auto channel tuning and no new channels materialised.

I has to update mine, doesn't list it but manually entering 114 now works.

They are just in test mode at the moment so no listings or nothing... I think it's the 18th when they launch then they'll go to 14 so your freeview will pick it up and give you listings and such.... MotoGP qualifying and practise on sunday about luch i think... then LIVE later on that night... Moto 2,3 and GP yeeha :)

I'm told by installers that when the SI went digital the reception of the terrestrial signal outside the main centers was so bad that most are on satellite. In my up country Canty area I'm told there's one guy with a mast who's on terrestrial feed and that's it.
I am of course hoping that the same applies in the NI and to satisfy their advertisers this channel becomes available on the satellite feed.

I hope they get some advertisers soon otherwise all those people complaining are gonna be complaining they're getting nothing again ;) I do believe quality of picture will have a little to do with the feed that gets sent as well.
As for satellite vs UHF. Yip no room for anyone on satellite, that's the biggest problem with it. UHF has room for about 40 channels if I can remember a conversation I had with a Freeview guy a few years back (may have been Sam Irvine). I can't remember if they can open up more or not. I think they need another satellite to get more stations on that.

He was in front before he left the track, it could be argued that the tarmac out there means it's still track, and if Rossi hadn't forced him out there, he would have made it round.

I was thinking, technically he cut a corner. Usual racing rules are if you gain a position by cutting a corner you need to give up the position or be relegated 1 place?
This is exactly what I was thinking. All other racing this would be the case. I saw this photo as well which is VERY interesting.

As someone said, out Rossi'd Rossi. Looks like he had every intention of using that "line". I suppose it comes down to where the track starts and finishes. I always thought the white lines are the track boundary apart from painted curbing. I assume it's very much an unknown because of the grate. Bloody big go nads to do it though.

The track is the lines. Seen it on v8 supercars where they're allowed 2 wheels out and still classed as in the track, at speedway we need to have at least 1 wheel in the track.
I can only presume they run similar rules (they seem pretty universal).

I think it's a bit more technical for V8s. It's not just two wheels, a reasonable amount of the car must still be on the track, and they were trialling sensors that alerted if the car was too far off track. That said, they've learnt they usually fuck the car if they cut the corner too much...

Yip two stage kerbing is the best to stop excessive corner cutting. Viewers get to see action, no need for techno mumbo-jumbo and it's the drivers choice how much they want to attack the corner. Personally I'd love to see a bike getting airborne during a race :) That's right bitches...I'm coming through on the inside! :Punk:

Thats exactly why I agree with the "out rossi'd rossi" comment. Both Marquez and Rossi think it's fine to pass there because it's so dicey and it makes it better viewing. I suppose Marquez puts it into perspective the best:
"You cannot do it every lap, but one time in one race why not? We need to be a bit free because in the end people want to see a show. I thought I was on the correct line, then I saw I was outside the track. It's a difficult place!”

Totally agree. To tell you the truth the motor racing I've watched this year has been bloody great, bikes and cars. Close racing, heaps of passing, crazy shit. This is the first year I've paid proper attention to MotoGP (preferred WSBK) mostly thanks to Sommet, and it's better than it has been in previous years. Moto2 has had to blinder races.
