Where to ride my KTM EXC in Christchurch?

Hello guys im Irish just moved to christchurch a few months ago. Got myself a ktm 450 exc. just looking for places to ride? Single track etc. Any info would be great. Cheers

And that's pretty much that unless you get a Reg and WOF on it.

Only others are the regular 'pay to enter' rides listed on the myrides website (http://www.myrides.co.nz/trail-rides-xidc53532.html) or the MX and Trials tracks on the North Bank of the Waimak when they aren't closed due to wetness as they are now according to the recent DOC newsletter.
Oh, Waipara riverbed is a bit of wet fun too, as is the drier Selwyn riverbed.

I no back in ireland you need a letter of conformidy from ktm. And then basically take it to vehicle test centre. Cheers

It is something like that I think, have the lights, mirrors etc on it, the right paperwork and get it certified. Think there's a bit of money involved though. If you search enough I'm sure the info is out there but never done it myself. Considered doing it to my old CRF230 (seen an article somewhere) but never bothered with the hassle. Now I have the WR250R for all those times I wished the CRF was plated. WR of course came registered.
With the REGO on you just get to add gravel roads and places you find in the 4x4 guide books and the Adventure Guide (http://www.adventureguide.co.nz/index.php) and ADV Routes (http://www.advroutes.org.nz/index.html) type sites. Some interesting dual track stuff but generally include lots of quiet back country scenery and can do things like add a little link roading in to do stuff like lap the Waimak bridge to bridge which involves about 20km of tar and 5 of ordinary gravel public roading, the rest up each side you could do as you are.
Lots of nice Banks Peninsula dirt roads and also the likes of Lees Valley are a couple of main rides for the Adventure riders.
Big tanks and better seats are mods often done but Adventurising can add weight and mess a bit with the bikes dedicated dirt performance.

All depends upon whether you want to broaden your horizons or are happier in the more technical single track in which case the best fun you will have could be on the enduro deviations on the trail rides on the myrides site, and there's some good and challenging ones coming up.
Dalethorpe Forest (11th August) is one that 'they' keep telling me I have to do, but things like cash flow among others keep conspiring against me.

Cheers for the info dude. I had a road legal ktm at in ireland. I like the idea of leaving from the house on yer bike. Hopefully get that done and start exploring the terrain. Cheers guys

look into the organised trailrides in your area, bike shops would no doubt have the info, not sure if south island rides are on
