Lake Brunner trails?

I,m off to lake brunner sat and coming back sunday....anyone know any good trail rides or good gravel roads to have a look at for a few hours ?

There are heaps of forest roads out the back of there, heading back towards Greymouth, I spent a day in there last labour weekend before the Grey mouth street races, I think the gate that is closest to the lake brunner side is locked. I went in from the duganville end, was a good day.:headbang::headbang:

Head back to Greymouth and at about Kokere turn left onto maori Gully/valley road. That will take you right through to Kumara along cape terrace road, but on the way you can explore the Noname road and Cockeye creek, amongst other unknown tracks. Once in kumara you can head back towards Christchurch and turn off at Jacksons towards lake Brunner to make a loop ride of it.:2thumbsup

For a good run of tarmac/gravel/4X4 track this is a cool loop:

That no name one and the maori creek roads are a couple of the ones I did I think, is there a big old airstrip off to the side of the road in the forestry there somewhere?

Yes, never seen it myself though, even after hooning around that area a lot as a young fella. will have to go searchin this summer

Easy to go round in circles in there. Heaps of forks in the trails & they all look the same. It's best to mark the one you take, so as to avoid that mistake the next time you ride past it!
First time I went looking for the airstrip I couldn't find it. Second time with Rogson we rode past the bloody thing 3 times while trying to find the track to Brunner.
Funniest part was when some 4WD guys asked us the way out, yet they had GPS!

Napoleon Hill & the tunnels is much more fun. Ikamatua Pub used to be a good base but sadly I heard today the woofer girls are gone.....

I must of found it by accident then, it is not very visible from the road and is right on an intersection. I will be going back there next labour weekend too I think.
The Napolean hill one is that the one in behind the goldfields camping area, to the north?

Got cancelled in the morning due bad weather....so bad mate had to turn back sat as he could,nt get through arthers pass....maybe this weekend as weather looks great...
