Lucky bloke.

I reckon he was using a trampers GPS. Shame we did not see the last 10 mtrs to tarmac. After all that would you have had a crack at it?

Lucky alright, extremely so. I think he should of moved a few boulders and given himself a bit more room. Especially on a bike that size, with that much gear. But, OH the adventure.:headbang::headbang:
Yep, I would of got it on the road somehow.

That's what I thought, too. Put myself in a pickle a few times & the feeling of can I, can't I, will it, won't it, is still strong when I think back. Nothing like being forced to face your fear. Not that I would go looking for it.

I do, I love the challenge of it. I quite often take my bike and head for the mountains alone. I always tell my wife the general area I will be in and roughly when I will be back. But I also tell her that if I dont come back, then I have gone with a smile on my face. Same goes with tramping, I would rather be alone most of the time, and dont like using popular tracks and areas. So I have to accept total responsability if I fuck up. Which I do from time to time.:2thumbsup

Looks like a pretty normal days riding to me.
The buzz you get when things get shitty and you come out ok (ish) is a good one.

Looked pretty mild from here, the faster you go the easier it is.

Thats what I was thinking when he was freewheeling down that last bit, with all the bleeping. Kept saying to myself, start the bloody thing.:headbang:

Yup, never ever turn your engine off:nono:. some do, but it gives me the heeby jeebies.
Easy to say just go for it, but with a fully laden adv bike, once they start tipping over there isn't a hell of a lot you can do about it most of the time.

Agreed, but it is nice to be able to blip the throttle to help pull it where you want it every now and then.:2thumbsup

The steepness of hills can be deceiving on video but that said I'd say that bloke didn't ride trail bikes as boy

His battery was already flat. I'm guessing he did that trying to restart after he took the tumble. Look at his light. It's really yellow & the dashlights are quite faint. I don't know why he didn't turn off the ignition though.
The camera is a wide angle, & they always make a steep drop off look more dramatic. The Hawkes Bay ride a while ago is a good example of that
Don't understand why he didn't move some of those initial rocks though

Me neither, if I was out for a trail ride and just had a daypack on, I would of just gone ahead. But with that much gear, on a heavier bike I would of got off and moved some rocks, would of been quicker in the long run. The fall in itself does not seem too bad, but having that lot come down on top of you, well it could of been much worse for him.:eek5:

I can't understand why he didn't walk the bike past the rough bits.
I wouldn't have my arse on the seat if the back wheel was hanging over a cliff. I'd step off and push like hell while I throttled the bike away from the ledge.
Gotta say though, that's one hell of a big bike to be doing single track stuff on. Poor bugger obviously got lost.

bring the dam thing back up in bits.... 3 bloody hours later...
Theres a 50m straight drop on the other side of those
little trees that stoped it...

Loved the ending so close to road again and big dropoff...
Reminds me of time recovering a mates ZX6 out of a ditch, other mate burnt out cutch on Camry try to tow it up!
Something to be said for smaller lighter bikes!

That was a cool track.
Probably not v-twin type fun though.
I coast my way down the steep shit too.
Steeper shit, and I'm off and bulldogging it down.
