They would probably fail a WOF inspection.

I think the chicken strips have been well and truly "KFried".
Do you know if the damage is due solely to the riders efforts, or were the tyres just not up to the job?
F1 are having tyre issues at the moment.

When the camera panned over the bikes in parc ferme, Jordi Torres’ rear tyre looked pretty gnarly too.

Edit: If you've got the motogp.com pass you can see Espargar’s tyre with a delamination at 1:00:54 and from 1:06:08–1:06:26 the camera sweeps along all 3 bikes’ rear tyres.

Had 3 rears do this at Hampton Nationals this season all only 6 laps from new. Turns out they was a bit soft. These pics are just from overheating that side of tyre and I suspect they new it would happen and the next harder tyre was guna be to slow

You could hear Cal talking to Rossi straight after the race about how bad the tyres were too.

Exactly right. The previous year at Hamstrung Downs another top Superbike rider wanted what we insisted was a ridiculously aggressive valving setting and was running it with SC1 Pirellis. Not unpredictably chunking occured. An SC2 cured the issue due to a tougher carcass, albeit with a slight loss of grip levels. Nevertheless he won that race.
So often racing is about pushing everything to the edge.

I suspect not. Everyone comes in differing shapes and sizes with varying levels of inbuilt insulation.

Looks like a tire used at Daytona. Funny thing at Daytona, a take off will take longer to chunk than a new tire.

not many races are won on flat tyres

Funnily enough MM was using the same type. Might go with the shit frame...lack of power etc etc...Maybe if Lorenzo was there he'd have shown them both there was no such problem?
