Front tyre for GSX-R600,120/70 17?

I was looking at getting a Pilot Road 3, but then I stumbled across a good price on the Pilot Power (http://www.cycletreads.co.nz/products/199-michelin_road/1573-michelin_pilot_power_road_spor.aspx) and Pilot Power 2CT (http://www.cycletreads.co.nz/products/199-michelin_road/2342-michelin_pilot_power_2_ct_road.aspx). How long can I expect the Pilot Power and the Pilot Power 2CT to last with fairly relaxed road riding? I might do a track day every couple of months or so.

Since they're both a similar price, what should I go for? Also, when I take the bike to get the tyre fitted would it be fine to ride the bike with the tyre around my body? I don't have any other way to carry it.

why dont you have the tyre delivered to the shop you intend to get it fitted by?

the 2ct should do you fine for relaxed road riding.

as for how long they will last, that depends on how you define 'relaxed' and how hard you go on trackdays.

Smokie-get either, you cant go wrong! Seriously, buy on price. They are both very good tyres. PP2might last a little longer given a few track days. I will even fit it for ya for free! pmme when you get it.

If the majority of your riding is "relaxed road riding" then the Pilot Road 3 is the right one. Then again, PP or PP2ct is the right tyre for the style of bike.

Either or - the 2ct is the newer version (a 3 version is about to be released).

Best to strap the tyre to the rear of the bike or it may get messy........

Oh and anything over 6000 k's of life means you are not trying hard enough! Road 2 or 3 will double that.

2cts are very good tyres. Until I changed to conti sport attacks I was using them. Take your wheel off and get a mate to transport you to the shop. Fitting is cheaper that way also.

Yra I reckon conti sport attacks are a sweet tyre, I always went for Michelins but tried the contis and they are awesome tyres. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I met a guy at the ferry in Picton a couple of years ago who'd ridden like that from Nelson ~110km away.

It might not do your spine much good if you fell off, so try and avoid that.
