is there a quick and hoary way to stop rust getting worse?

the wagon is sitting in a paddock, so obviously the least ideal place. the solution needs to be durable, elsewise i'd'a just sprayed it with diesel and oil. the rust is quite severe (like, gone right through the panels)
will pa10 hack it?
is there some other jenius stuff that you guys know about? (or, anyone wanna buy it?)

Pa 10 will attract moisture if left un painted. Fish oil would be best I reckon. but thats only going to slow it down a bit, needs cut out or painted with blackguard or similar.

Back in my high school days (so not too long ago) I got me a cheap Daewoo (before you slag me off it was $2000 for a 10 year old car. And still unbelievably shit).

The bonnet was rusting pretty bad so we attacked it with fish oil. It never got any worse and we didn't cut any of it out (the WOF guys would of seen it if we flaked off any of the paint).

Go nuts on the fish oil. Drown that rust in it

Fish oil is cheaper than rust converter at least. Your could paint it with por or similar but would be expensive.:2thumbsup

if i had the money id be doing it properlike.

The reason its rusting was a shocking lack of prep by the last muppet to paint it. Also, they dont seem to have heard of bog =s

Most primers and shit will actually soak up moisture if not finished of with top coat and clear, which leaves things alot worse than it was.

The Wurth equivalent worked real well on a fix-up-and-sell RG150 I had. Even matched the colour of the paint on the frame!

The good news is if the chrome is getting a tad rusty you can give it the aluminum foil and water treatment, miraculous it is.
I was rejuvenating some of the Eldorado bits today.

PA10 has value only as a temporary holding primer over prepped steel, prior to priming properly with a genuine anticorrosive.

Single pack zinc, such as the CR based rattle can types, are also only usefull as a temporary measure, and have the added problem of topcoat saponification if enamel based topcoat is used, weather it is single pack or two pack.

For any zinc to work as a cathodic protection system, it must have clean steel for the electron flow, to enable the electrical reation that creats the sacrificial action of the zinc. FE, Ferrus Oxide (RUST) will block the reation, and is by nature porous so also provides no protection from moisture, weather immersion service or moisture vapour transfer.

Use an MIO epoxy over hand prepped steel, at at least 125um film thickness.(minimum). Surface tolerant and resistant to abrasion, water immersion and with minimal prep will accept a wide range of topcoat options, but will provide long term protection by itself in most environments, other than severe geothermal or marine corrosive environments

Two major NZ suppliers of genuine protective coatings are: Axzo Nobel and Altex Devoe
