A dream bike of mine has cropped up on trademe, so with a great deal of reluctance, and with a heavy heart the hornet must go up for sale

It's easily been the best bike I've ever had. Heaps of fun, reliable as the earth turning, and (imho) absolutely beautiful to look at! I'll miss her dearly once she's gone.

Mechanically, she's absolutely faultless. She's had kiwibiker owners all her life in New Zealand (I'm the second), and it shows. Regular oil changes, chain lubes, and general tidiness are obvious. It's definitely one of the best sorted bikes I've ever had. She starts straight away every time without the use of choke, regardless of temperature! All I've had to do while owner her over the last 9 months are a few oil changes, changing out the chain to a high quality X-ring type, and replacing the sprockets at the same time. The rear boot is still 95% good. Front boot is looking a little worn, but still warrant able. Otherwise, I can't think of anything that would need doing in the near future. Previous owner took fastidious care of it while in his possession, and I've done the same.

Cosmetically in great shape as well. Only real faults are a bit of pitting on the mirrors/stalks (which seems common for Hornets), and a tiny stone chip or two on the tank. Otherwise, it's in pretty good nick.

I'd hands down recommend a hornet as one of the best learner bikes, LAMS or otherwise. I tried heaps of LAMS bikes before deciding on the Hornet, and never for a moment did I regret the decision. It's comfy, handles extremely well, is reasonably powerful, reliable as hell ( They're known to do 100,000 km+ easily) and that gear driven cam sound is

Any questions, feel free to shoot me a line!

Taking that at face value  I think it's reasonably priced, anyway. There is some flex on the price obviously, but there's only 2 Hornettos cheaper atm and both have issues.

The K's are a little higher on mine, but condition is excellent and Hornet's will do 100,000km+ anyway

Looks like it's been kept in great condition, if I were still looking for a 250 I would have been very interested. Good luck with the sale!

:bleh: Yep, still accurate to the minute too! A stroke of brilliance putting in on there. Best addition to a bike I've ever had  Wouldn't seem right taking it off the bike.

I would go for a Concurs first over a VFR anyway. but I like the look.

How do you have a bike with its WOF on hold as stated in your TM ad?

havent I seen you riding it last week?

The Rego was only put on hold yesterday. It'll get a new WOF today (it's only just expired). Going to try n stay off of it though until it sells (though a little ride here or there won't hurt if'n it takes awhile eh? :nya:).

VFR may be a bit better handling.
My short list ended up being cony / zx14 and vfr12 and k13s. After riding the 14r and my wife saying she liked the back seat the other 3 got forgotten.
VFR in the flesh looks better than any photo seems to indicate.
I say if its the dream bike buy it.

I woulda thought they would do 3500 trade in or is it a better deal if no trade in??
