This guy must have been half asleep, even the Ford Mondeo driver started breaking before he did. As a guess, and assuming the cars were doing the legal 70mph, he was pushing along at a pretty reasonable speed.
Interesting that he fell into the focusing on what he might hit(with commentary), rather than look for a way around it, like using the hard shoulder!
Still a total numb nuts and very lucky to get off uninjured.

Pretty sure I can hear a couple of tire chirps on the vid. Too much too late causing him to play pinball.
I would put the whole fiasco down to not concentrating / lack of observation, to busy swooping past the slower accelerating cars from the slip road. Probably euphoric due to the unseemly weather in the UK at the moment. Shit happens.

I don't fink he realised that there was a slow moving or stationary tailback ahead of the trucks, prolly assumed it was just a normal overtake & realised too late they was not moving much. zoom zoom zoom thwack tinkle.

3 seconds from the first swear word to impact.
I did that once with Anne on the back of my Sprint, so much so that she was up off the seat looking over my shoulder at the VTR1000 that had just gone past me, pulled in, and stopped.
The first time emergency braking had saved an embarrassing situation, my front wheel literally packed between Johns rear wheel and right hand muffler

Bumpity bump. You get to see some real stupid shit driving around in trucks, thats for sure. From all sorts of vehicles. Bikes are no exception, even professional drivers do some stupid shit on the roads. You gotta have your wits about you when your on the road, no matter what you are driving or riding.

Yup. All your awareness & attention. I concur.
But.
I am also guilty of similar lapses in concentration or being a retarded dumb fuckwit. That's readers prerogative.
Any hoo. It's a bit of a worry. I don't ride like the guy in the video, I do lifesavers & shit but have found myself, eye balls pressed against the visor, mouth agape, trying to ride out of my own fuck up a few times. My arsehole tight enough to split atoms more than once. Brain was elsewhere & oblivious to my immediate future. Prolly not the only one here. But never binned it. Only done that trying to ride fast.
What gets me is where did he get the breath to swear through the fuck up? When I'm hard on the picks my larynx is so tight I can only squeak & my brain is everywhere except my gob. I do pull faces, doubtless some of my freakiest.
Best say, in the context of the quoted post that I have never had an accident in 35 years of riding with my brain in. Even when it pops out for a bit. Only ever come off being a hero.

I saw this on FB. What a cock! There be a perfect example of riding without any friggen clue about what is further ahead of you than the "cage" in front holding you up.
Those trucks were blocking from the get go, just how he thought he was going to "filter" past them is beyond me. When it all turns pear shaped, all he can do is swear, fix his focus on the non gap between the trucks and then attempt to brake. I saw a nice road shoulder he could have headed for, and at the speed he was going he probably would have managed it with some determined counter steering.
Dork!

You don't have to be on a bike for trucks to be dangerous. Watched a work mate get crushed by a truck. Went to jump up on the rear trailer unit to help stack hay bails. Slipped off, truck rolled over half his body length ways at about 2-3kms/hr. Died a few hours later.
Complacency gets you killed just as easily.

yer it was. He was 16 yrs old and it was Christmas eve :/ Unlike the liveleak video I didnt see the truck lift up at all. broken bones, almost all of of them down one side and ruptured internals.
I was going to say he was a really nice bloke but at the start of the season the old hands thought he was a bit of a plonker. That he was jumping up to help someone do the hardest job was indicative of how much he had changed. Commercial haymaking (100,000 + a season) was character forming. If you didnt have any you didnt last long at it.
Off topic a bit but I was looking at some some of the old uncle bruce movies I showed at your house Paul. Are you or anyone else who knew him interested in me posting some of them ? low res stuff as HD didnt exist then :)
