Bikers In Blue Ride 2013
This year the FBMC is once again hosting an event for the Prostate Cancer Foundation Blue September Appeal on Sunday 15th September 2013.
Prostate Cancer kills over 500 men a year, that’s around 1 in 10 however with early detection and treatment we can help bring this statistic down. To do this we want to raise awareness through a meet and ride.
Our event is a ride called “Bikers In Blue” and this year as with last we are running rides on the same day in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. It’s a fun event open to all motorcyclists everywhere. It will be a chance to hook up with fellow bikers for a morning ride and enjoy the company that our proud community is renowned for.
The idea is for everyone to “Get Blue” by decorating their bikes and themselves. Its always good fun and guaranteed to turn heads when we hit the road.
The meet points and times are:
Auckland Ride
9.30am
Meet at PlaceMakers, 481 Pakuranga Road, Pakuranga
Wellington Ride
10.00am
Meet at Avalon Duck Pond Off Fairway Drive, Wellington
Christchurch Ride
9.00am
Meet Avon City Suzuki, 62 Main South Road Sockburn
I have attached the event flyer with all the details for the events. Also please feel free to check out our website at www.fatbikersmc.co.nz/bikers-in-blue-ride-2013 and the Facebook group which can be found at Bikers In Blue Ride 2013.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post and I look forward to seeing you on the day. If you have any queries or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me at bikersinblue@gmail.com.

Anyone know if you can get tyres that give off blue coloured smoke for motorcycles? The ones like those D1NZ special needs cunts use at the drifting?

Drill a small hole in the exhaust pipe just before the muffler. Attach a little device that dispenses blue pigment. Hook it all up to ECU (or tacho) so it more/less based on the revs.
That way your bike will bellow blue smoke clouds instead of black ones.
and it will get everywhere and irritate all the <del>riders</del> cages behind you.

The ride is starting to see some media coverage, Have seen Nigel the mascot on the back of Kims bike in the news paper (Sideswipe section) and the next day the description as to why, then articles in local papers, Motorcycle trader mag.... It be be awesome to see a big turnout of bikers in blue :D
I might even mount up some flashing blue LED's I have....not road legal but I am sure I could use them for the day :P

Why not multihoppered? You could choose 3-5 different colours. No wait, you could get something like this (http://www.lumicrest.com/images/RGB_controller_colour_wheel.jpg) and have RGB mixing on the go!
Hang on, it'll be subtractive mixing.......CMY+W mixing on the go!

As long as they are not flashing when you are moving I doubt it will be a problem.

I don't think I'll ride in it again or the pink ribbon one (which ive heard is bigger) as for some reason having an L plate means ride my ass even closer, sit in my blind spot or over/undertake me so close I can feel your tassels.

Yes with so many bikes and people trying to keep up at lights etc there was some close riding.... If you do another ride see if you can get a couple of bikes you know to ride behind as backstop giving you some space :)
Could have done with another couple of cops closing intersections as we went through as well :D
I would like to see some of the pics taken front the motorway bridges etc, but I have no idea if it was just joe public taking them or someone organized doing it <_<

Next time you shouldn't have a L plate anymore. Not sure if that was the problem though. It was pretty ok around me. There was one guy who was zipping around a bit so I was never really sure where he was or where he was going to be next, next to me, in my blind spot or in front of me  but everybody else was pretty relaxed.

Big rides like this do have potential for a lot of danger. You're riding in close quarters usually with a lot of strangers, you have no idea how they ride, or how they will react to any given situation. Maintaining a safety bubble and being ultra aware of your surroundings is crucial. Also keep an eye as far into the distance as possible, so you get warning when things suddenly slow down etc.

yup You have to be aware for sure, some parts of the pack were not bad at all, I mostly had one bike behind me that kept its distance but could see worse ahead when I moved up when we split changing lanes.
If in doubt ask for a backstop, Its no like we would say no as no one is going to get there faster :P
All in all a well organized ride.
I think a few of the same crew are helping with the Pink Ribbon ride? I might be on that ride as well all going to plan :)
