Thanks for that , the standing times weren't too flash , rider too heavy and first gear is so tall. Shame I'll miss it this year. Was also trying to get the wife to have ago as I think "LB" has been the only Female rider so holds all the womens records and could do with the company.
Are you going to try the TL ?, the Vtiwns sound great on the Flying.

Yes, I hold the Women's Record for the September '04 meeting. (probably the only time I'll ever win anything on my bike!!)
I know that I certainly won't be winning the Women's section this time around!!
Seriously though, it's a lot of fun, I had a real blast last year.
And remember, you're really only racing yourself.
Mooch, I'll let you know on the QT which bike Jim2 enters.....!!

Can't wait to check it out!!! I just hope the winds aren't as bad as the last time I rode through there. Whos the local chap that rides the GPZ600? he's usually headed over the hill every sunday. I was following him through there last time and he was hummin even though he was leaning a good 25-30 degrees most of the way.

He was leaving from the startline. He'd also inflated the tyres to about 50psi. The bike was wheel spinning through 1st and 2nd, while turning the slight bend the start line's located on. Awesome stuff, the boys got balls.
He'd go faster if he ditched the cordura for some leathers. I didn't want to tell him as I was hoping to beat him.

The start line was getting further and further back as the day progressed.
The key, IMHO, is to give it snot right from the start line and right the way through until after you past the finish line. Make sure your knees and elbows are tucked in tight and ya chin's on the tank.

I was impressed as well , but the runs I saw started further back from the start line , the black marks on the road went for about 150 meters on medium chip.Better him than me. You're going to be under pressure Deano to keep the CBR flag flying high. Bad news is Tony S told me the other day he would probably enter..bugger for the rest of you, may as well stay home! Lucky for me I'm up north next weekend and that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
I guess my winning flying and standing 1/4 times in Nov 04 will be blow away next weekend. I see Hayden put in a better standing 1/4 time in the Sept 04 event (10.04 secs vs my 10.08 standing 1/4) Close enough. No matter it was a rush seeing the speedo top out at 299.
Tony doubted the standard K5 GSR will better his record on the K3 because that was heavily modified.
Look forward to hearing how you all do.

That was a fun day. Watched the sprints in themorning, watched Lynda turn the timing rig off every time Flame went by so she could keep her record, and it was nice of her to try and help Deano by buggering up Mr Sampson's timing on his second run.
Excellent commentary Lynda.

I am pretty much sure of it, unless someone shows up on a 50cc scooter.I won! (ie. Slowest) I seem to recall 16.88 seconds for the standing 1/4. That's slower than a volkswagen 4wd! ( http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/HL0401/S00128.htm )
Something is amiss with old dents though, it was surging a bit after the runs.
Should all be sorted next month (Fingers crossed, touch on wood, etc) . Then I expect nothing more that 16.70 for the standing 1/4!

Heading towards the start line and the bike stops accelerating...I change gear...that doesn't help.
Then before I get to the finish line the bike starts losing power.
Apperently there was a puff of blue smoke, I think that would correspond to the point where bike start slowing down.
I'd say it was only running on 3 cylinders for most of the timed part of the run and then it felt like a dirty old twin on the way home.

WT: re Tony.....on his second flying run the timing gear played up and didn't stop when he passed the finish line. His first run was 4.82 which equated to average speed of 298.75kph. He would def have broken the 300kph barrier on his second run, as he was doing 500rpm more, and you could tell he was slightly faster. On his third run the wind had gotten up a bit and he did a 4.83.
Results will be posted on the website (www.cdd.co.nz if I remember correctly). It sometimes takes Peter a few days to get the results up, just keep a watch on it.

Hayden reckons he can derestrict the speed limiter on the CBR pretty easily, but I dunno if he will do it for the sprints......gotta keep something up his sleeve don't he. :Pokey:
Are you sure there is any limiter on the Blades? I have never heard that before. The only speed restrictors for Hondas that I'm aware of are those roadside signs with a black stripe across the middle or the ones with "100kph"
So doesn't anyone know what the best times were or do we have to wait 4 months for the organisers to update their website like last time.

400(m) / 10.47 (sec) = 38.204393505 metres per second
Which is 137.53 KM/h . (Or 12 on the Beaufort scale.. ;-) )
That speedo was reading about 11 high, I think I saw an indicated 149. That was in 4th gear. My carbs were so screwed that I couldn't go faster in 5th, hence the other slower times.
Ridiculous muffler has been fitted, carbs are being fixed, new +3 jets are in, clutchless upshifts practised..
All going to plan, I think I get an extra 10 km/h at the next meet. And I think the muffler has already given me that, as it pulls harder than it used to as the revs go up.

Yeah it's the way to go. Only cost around $200 and I believe that your DV camera takes external AV input so it'll sit nicely under the seat. Easy to make up a little bracket too. Plus it's less vulnerable in the event of a non mentionable.

These are on again on Sunday 27th of this month, so if you missed out last time, or as in my case you have made some improvements this is your chance to see how fast it will go. Or how fast it will do a standing 1/4.
So leave that day free!
It's plenty fun, honest. And you forever feel better knowing you are not talking shit when someone asks how fast/slow it goes.
I will naturally be going as slow as I can so to fill my usual public service role of coming last, to save all of you who have spent too much on your bike the shame. Yes, I know, I am too generous.
