HI, I have a TZR250, the motor is the 3MA.
When the bike gets started it will rev out to 6000RPM but when it gets there is starts mising and choking up. Is abit of a cow to start when it has been left for a period of time . Have checked carb bowls for crap but seem to fine.
Anyone got any ideas on what to check next??

Does the bike do this all the time, or just when cold?
New plugs?
Good quality 2 stroke oil (castrol TTS) and 91 petrol?
When you checked the carbs did u clean them out, Jets etc?
Whats the condition of the needle and nozzles?
Are you shutting off the petrol when you're not using the bike?
Let me know how you get on.

Have tryed several sets of new plugs, i am using Yamaha 2R oil and tend to run on 96 rather then 91.
Have replaced main jet but not the others.

I guess we have to ask, with what and why did you replace the main jet? Was it doing the same thing before you changed it? Over 6000 rpm is starting to get into main jet territory. Is the jet to big? Has the jet now come loose and fallen out?
Why don't you run it on 91? You may have a good reason. but if you don't have facts to base it on, and are only guessing 96 is better, then you may find it starts and runs better on 91. My KR250sp was hard to start on anything but 91.

The main jet was swapped from the original 200 to a 210 after it had siezed, we were told that the 210 stopped them from having the seizure prob. Have always just usd 96, no actual reason behind it.
