I bought this bike primarily as a commuter, thinking I'd do the occasional adventure ride, but it hasn't happened. It does the commuter job well though, I fill up the 10 litre tank every two weeks at upward of 280km (to reserve). That's 28km/l.
Handles dirt tracks pretty good too, although I don't think it'd cope with being jumped.
The pics are from a trip I took through the windmills from Balance bridge to the Pahiatua track, which has actually been the only time I've had it offroad.
Great fun to fling around town, bounce over the occasional curb etc.
Also has a SuperTrap after market exhaust, so it sounds bigger than it is.
The XT225 is called the Serow in Japan which means "mountain goat". And the bike has earned a reputation as the 'pocket knife' of bikes for its ability to tackle anything. They have a dedicated fan base and have even been used for long distance touring.

This is the best of the older models, it has the front disc brake so stopping is tolerable & the sixth gear so the open road is accessible, top speed is upward of 110km/h (unless there's a headwind).
It was imported from Japan with 10,000 on the clock and hasn't done much since until I got it last year. Has been my daily ride to university in all weathers.
The overall condition is pretty good for the age. Not immaculate. Surface rust in parts of the frame etc. Nothing to worry about as far as I know.
Current Reg & recent WOF & unique look with the sticker collection of a lifetime, supporting the classic 90's white and blue with pink pinstripe.
Have decided I want to do more open road cruising rather than adventure riding.
If noone on KB wants it for the $2000. It'll be going on TM for $2300ish and sitting there till someone bites.
Rather not let TM have the $80 odd they seem to expect these days.
