Currently got Metzler Z6s, good tires for touring and the occasional thrash but for constant top end pulls im not sure how they will be.

Looking at the other offerings I came across this from Shinko. http://www.cycletreads.co.nz/products/588-shinko_road/9460-shinko_hook_up_drag_radial_for.aspx

Would it fit the bill? Not much cheaper than the tyre I have on the rear already but more purpose built.

Anyone with experience in the 280kph+ world keen to lend some advice for a first timer?

Cheers

They're basically Yokohama 003's from back in the day. They'll be sweet for what you're doing.

So you reckon run with the Z6 rear? Its only 2 months old and cycletreads have a deal on them at the moment so I guess scarificing it won't hurt to much. There is nothing but good opnions on the shinko in Busa circles as far as drags go. Alot of guys run them on the street to, don't know if I could ever be that keen though

If they are the same (which I'm told they are) as the old 003 Yoko's...they were good enough for 1.16 laps round Manfield on a 250 proody bike back in the day.

Which didn't weight quite 260kg or have 180hp, pretty similar though :D

I'd love to be cut loose round there on a Busa! Got me leathers back off Rachel last night with the aim of losing enough weight to be able to get back in 'em.

I think you are over analysing it.

It's just a straight line blast for 90 seconds. Not much time for tyres to get stressed out. All you need are those black rubber tyres shaped like a circle. They work well in most situations.

Now if you are doing the twisty Hill climb, then's that's a different story.

Yep lol, guess I am. Will just run with what I have got and see how it goes. Just got a new pipercross airfilter for the event, looking foward to it.
Now I just need to fix the car so I can tow the bastard down there...

Fuck yeah. Certainly not the place to be practising one handed wheelies, that's for sure.

Tyres not got enough tread to last the ride down?

Would rather tow it in case I blow the cunt up and can't ride back. Will ride down if it comes down to it though.

i beleive suzukis dont blow up!They just have electrical problems,ie the crank breaks so the alternator wont charge the battery!

The Brocks nitro 1650cc zx14 had a new shinko on the back for the Masterton drags. Does that help?
