Just got me new KTM Motard. Wondering if there are any hooligans near by to do hooligan things with near by, or if I have to stick to other people on Tupperware-ass sports bikes.

Meeee.... uuhhhh not anymore. But I see theres a guy who works at boyds I think on 525exc. After the gym some days I stalk him almost home. He likes wheelies and fast launches from what I can see lol.

Btw your bikes made of tupperware plastic. Sports bikes are made out of glass :p

Oh yeah, you were the dude with the KLX300, weren't you? What's the trade up like to the liter sports bike?

Good point, at least Tupperware doesn't explode when it hits the ground

Absolute shit... I have some horrible timing... I've owned it for 2 weeks now and I haven't even seen the bike in person yet, let alone have a ride. I've gone to aussie on a holiday and she's in a mates shed in hawkes bay waiting for me.

2 years more modern and 100 more hp... should be fun.

Oh god, I can't imagine how much you want to ride it.

I felt the same way on the KTM. From the Ducati Monster 400, which was like, 45hp and 170kg to a KTM 450 which is ~50hp and 115kg. The difference is pretty nuts. Failing to keep the front wheel on the ground in third:whistle:

The Waingaro to Raglan is a good ride, I stay off the Raglan Road, too many cops. Glen Murray at the back of Huntly, all nice and windie. I go their in the summer I have to trailer my Tard in and usually run from the Waingaro turn off, to the Raglan Road and back. From Tundercross Park out, I just got an oversized tank, fucking hideous thing but at I can go further, probably have to still carry some premix. Richard 0220828186

Do you have the awesome CR500 that was outside Pak'n'slave Clarence st the other day? If so, that looks like spook much fun! Trying to convince my better half I need a WR450 to convert for commuting to save the Speedy for open road stuff.......

Bin working on it over the winter, got a set or RG3 triples and a set of crf450 forks to put on just waiting for the conversation kit. Going to try and put a cr250 swing arm on the back, I have a rear shock set up for motard.
A WR would be nice, I think they were only road legal till 07 unless you buy a 2012.

No kidding, I just did that route last weekend. The KTM is definately the best bike I've ridden through there. Only lost the front end once! :niceone:

That CR must be nuts on the road. I imagine it doesn't have any K's on the Odo, considering the front wheel wouldn't ever be on the ground

Ummm I try to keep it on the ground especially up behind Huntly there's cliffs. :eek5:
Thundercross park is a good place to run from, ride trail and then on the road.
Stay there all day I got a Jumbo van,put the bikes in BBQ, shit load of gas, stop for a feed, mattress in the back, come back on dark.
Usually sore as fuck the next day though.

Was talking to Blackwoods in Cambridge today and as long as its an ADR model it should be fine. Only thing is they're kinda like rocking horse shite...

Yes the first of the ali frames back, 06 was the last one, the ones I've seen are a bit long in the tooth now. The only other one is a KTM.

This is another option I looked at

Or a Huskie..

Seems OK and its an enduro but 200 hrs, looks nice. Don't forget the suspension and set of rims ain;t cheap if you choose to go that way. KTM is a better opition, you can pick up some wheels for $1200- $1500 with good tyres and maybe even a bracket to run a 3320mm disc.
Don't know much about Huskies or Husa accept the 650 Husaberg............. now that's a tard!!!!!!!!

Believe it or not, that thing is LAMS approved. I'm not complaining...

Boo
18th August 2013, 22:25
Shit....... they don't come up often and the problem is there a race bike and high maintance which is all part and parcel.
One of the nicest tards I reckon.......parts are so expensive, a rebuild would leave you 4.5k less off.
Can't buy single crank cases got to buy both, rare to see one on the road...

ZondaX15
19th August 2013, 20:56
Oh wow. That's like, my KTM every time you need a rebuild. Are the new 570's just as bad?

Boo
21st August 2013, 05:33
I don't know but being an enduro you wouldd think they would be OK, its when you try to get HP out of them. I know KTM now own them..... there a heavy bike I would stay with the KTM

the 570 Berg is simply the best bike ever!! Built by KTM, in the KTM factory using KTM parts. it even has a KTM sticker on it... it is not heavy? nor are the parts expensive? Top end rebuild is 1K. not that you need to worry about that very often, ive done over 300 hours on my Tard FE570 2012. never had any issues, never uses oil, or water, never blows any smoke. never broken down, only ran out of gas a couple of times lol. damn you 8.5 LTR tank!!!!

that would be the guy who works at boyds. I sometimes finish work at the right time to see him going from boyds, te rapa rd, heading south. I recall it's a 525exc (he filtered past my van at the lights and I had a good perve).

ZondaX15

He was going away from Te Rapa, which is odd. Looked like a post 2011 one too. Maybe there's another one around.

I saw two DRZ's today. That's two more an I've ever seen. And it will probably be the last i'll ever see of them, knowing my luck.

*Bump

You guys ever meet up?

Technically I'm not on a 'tard.... looking at getting the torpedo 7 wheelset; any good? Not that the Enduro wheels stop me being a menace to society.

Hi, I was looking around for awhile for a group or something to ride with, any of you guys still doing some riding and want to do a group ride sometime? It gets lonely riding all by yourself haha
