View Full Version : Speed camera reference locations?

Got my first ever speed camera ticket. Actually my Wife did. But she claims it was her day off so it must have been me in her car.

58 in a 50 area, $30. Fair cop. I'll pay. No whining. (I'll even help write the letter saying 'twas me.)

Just interested to know where the camera was; and there's a reference code for the camera location on the ticket.

Is there a place to locate sites from those codes?

I did do the google thing, but too many web sites providing fixed camera locations; couldn't sort the wheat from the chaff.

58 in 50 zone? Was it a public holiday?

I thought they sent you a photo with the ticket also so you should be able to see where it was.
Or has it been to long since I got a ticket?

How do you know it was a stationary site? Could have been mobile? On the letter should be a date, time and street.

You have to ask for the photo.

if you really want to know that badly, I think you can request a copy of the photo. it should list exactly when and where the ticket was received and the photo would help you pinpoint the location.

Might well have been a Van

misses was saying someone else was talking bout 1 they got like this on another forum (think there's was 56 in 50) no school & not public holiday.
Maybee they've moved to maximise profit as was theorised when they brought in the "dangerous slower roads for holidays" 4km/h tolerance

I didn't say it was stationary; and in fact assume it was mobile.

Either way, on the letter is a bit "Site reference number (location): AAA999" - which I figured could be used to look up the exact site.

Altho that to me looks like someone was too lazy to put in actual reference, like when you put 'AAA' as your name in old games

That wasn't the real reference! (Are we not all up in arms about privacy these days?)

The real reference was three letters and three digits, in the form I showed.

did you try including the ref chars in your gloggle search?

If you are going 51 km/h you can be given a ticket, as you are exceeding the speed limit!

normally police use a bit of leniency , aren't we lucky :weird:

Good thought, but alas all that finds is shock absorbers and snow mobile bumpers.

Maybe it's the 80% thing...

Search "Checkpoint Watch NZ" on facebook. People post up mobile speed camera locations every morning.
