Maybe you have a really boring life with nothing to hide, no opinions that would offend the SS and you don't mind road side internal searches. Hey its your call. But I have PLENTY to hide... and so the GCSB can jump in-the-lake if they think they can read my emails.

Heres how to stop them fellas or at least put an envelope around yer emails.

(1) Create a GMAIL account, and enable IMAP in the settings.
(2) Download ThunderBird and install it. It knows all the gmail settings.
(3) Download gpg4win from gpg4win.org and install it.
(4) In ThunderBird ---> tools----> addons search for, then install enigmail and restart Thunderbird.

You now have encrypted email available - just use the OPENPGP menu item to create a keypair and send a copy of the public key to a keyserver like pool.sks-keyservers.net.

You can also export your keys to a pendrive or similar if you want to access your email from multiple machines.

Sending an encrypted email is dead easy just follow you nose. If you don't have the other persons key, just download it from the keyserver. Would have possibly worked when they only collect and had capacity for the specious emails but now they take it all anyhow and have the capacity store and filter. Now if you want to cause them to work for your dirty secrets or overload their processing power then use Dave's encryption method.

Remember you may not think you have something to hide but they may think what you just e-mailed your mate is worth using :shifty:

Oh boy ...some folks really worry about the weirdest things! If you're doing dodgy things, then the clever thing would be to utilise the minimalist approach to communication about such dodgy things?

Not as if the GCSB has the resources of the FBI

The media has blown this whole thing waaaaayyyy out of proportion.

if it were that easy to hide your shit, every terrorist extremist psychopath and deranged mass killer would be able to commit their acts and crimes without leaving a trace.

if you want to hobble their system, drag it to the brink of overload by making sure that in every text, email, forum or facebook post, and phone call you either write, or say works like assassination, president, bomb, etc etc.

Dont communicate online anymore
dont have conversations in your car
dont have conversations indoors anywhere
have business meetings in the tide wearing togs
[make sure the other goes underwater a few times]
[saw some senior members talking in a spa pool....]
park your car 100's of meters from your destination
wear a hoody

or become a recluse
you will have noactivity
you will have nothing to hide....
you will have nothing to show
zero zero zero
they will suspect the worst:laugh:

A lot of users don't even understand that their workplace's network admin regularly scans their emails.

The family of one of my workmates is resolving to copy John Key into every email they send. He's gonna get a lot of cats
