And every time I hear the word "scrooser" I want to punch that fucking smug hipster douchebag in his stupid see through glasses.

That said, however: this looks like a shit ton of fun to me.

My thoughts exactly every time I watch it. Puts me off the thing completely.

The novelty would wear off fast.
I think they would do well as rentals in tourist towns.
Idd rent one.

Whatever happened to the Kiwi version of that?

5 years or so ago they seemed to be about to conquer to world, and I've heard not a jot since...

I hate faked comparative advertising.

They imply you don't look as dorky as someone on a bicycle - showing someone on a bike wearing a bike helmet - totally ignoring that a person on one of these scooter things ought to wear a helmet too. (Or that the guy on the bike might choose not to).

And while they have a point on the sweaty thing; part of the point of the bicycle is the exercise.

Apples with apples.

(Are the batteries in the wheels?)

Urban wank on a plank.
No "potential mate" would see that as cool.
Back seat of a 57 Chevy though.............

Ocean1 you can buy a yikebike here: http://www.yikebike.com/compare-models

From what I can tell there are quite a few electric commuter solutions out there, but they're all so highly priced.

The scruuger thing is another good idea, but if it's priced too high it'll never get purchased.

I meant the NZ version of the wee beastie pete-blen showed us:

And by taxing my memory to the max and dedicating endless hrs on t'google I found them: http://www.fxbikes.com/

Looks to be slightly more expensive, slightly more technically advanced. Damn fine idea but it looks like they're still short of some marketing clout.

I wouldn't rule one out. In fact I might have a word with Santa.

Prices will be around US$5995 retail as we roll out our dealer network, BUT…

Team FX discount price is US$3995 ex factory if you make a reservation now!

That would be fun but 3500 wouldn't one be better off getting a trials bike?

Well no. Although depending on workable shortcuts I'd do it.

But I think Pete was comparing the two based on their respective claims to a fun budget.

Because neither is going to have much impact on the practical transport market. No here anyway.

As for a sleeper, this may well be my next project:
