Interesting concept. I hope they get backing for it.
The biggest question I have is can one still do a burnout?

I'm thinking it looks too much like a scam to get backing for. Their claims don't stack up.
Reckon you could still do a burnout, but it might get a bit hoppy as the wheel slip/grips and pushes the shocks off center, then gets unbalanced.
I think damping could be an issue, when hitting a bump causes the wheel to more relative to the hub, well then you have a very unbalanced 'wheel' still trying to turn. So bumps at different speeds will likely be a bit, well bumpy...

Its a rather grand sales pitch. For something like this, you need to have a prototype set up and pushed to the extremes. Not just replacing a single wheel, all of them. Give it to a Boy racer or something, and get him to thrash the shit out of them. And that's all before you go to kickstarter.

I would like to see comparative testing. At the moment I cannot see how it improves on what I consider to be most important...Performance!

It's not like sprung wheels are a new thing. Why didn't they take off before?

Had a feeling that I'd seen something on "Tomorrow's World" when I was a kid...googled and found the idea was even older than that.

LEVEL 13: We will name 1 of 10 Shweel models after you. This model (and future revisions of this model) will have your signature on it and will be manufactured for the life of the company! Rewards from previous level also included.
Im in. Where is my check book and how many zeros do I put in the number.
Something that is as good as they claim, wouldn't be fishing for sponsors.

Yeah ... and it may work on four-wheeled vehicles .. but on a bike ??? The sprung hub concept is not new .. but the axle is always moving in relation to the rims ... (on modern bikes the axle and rims are fixed in relation to each other .. it's the shocks and swing arm - or cantilever or variant - that moves ) ... if you've ever ridden a sprung hub bike then the sensation in corners at speed is not pleasant ... and why it was not used on later and faster bikes ..

I think one of the comments on the page are right, kickstarter really suits small cool gadgets (like the Muzamoto indicators (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/713941937/muzamoto-motorcycle-turn-signals-stylish-safe-supe)).
They seem to be aiming for the commercial market and really just need to find themselves a venture capitalist willing to risk 100-500k on the idea, who has a stake or interest in mining, trucking, etc.
Couldn't find any weight figures for their shweels, but would be interesting to see the weight of 'em versus the saving in sprung/unsprung weight (would probably require inboard brakes for best effect?).
Dyno run looked as wobbly as fuck though!
