View Full Version : I need help on my bar-ends!

Hi guys! Ive been wanting to change my bar ends on my hornet after along time. Ive got new ones coming in soon with mirrors (better visuals!) But the problem is I cant seem to get the old ones out!! And these are bald bar ends! No screws!
I tried doing it the soft way ( towel covered and using a crimper) and it doesnt seem to get any grip while twisting it! So I got fed up and didnt care about getting the bar ends ruinned so I did a direct contact between the crimper and bar ends. Got grip and able to twist it.. sprayed some WD-40. BUT STILL DOESNT WANNA COME OUT AFTER SO MANY TWISTS!
Anyone got any advice on how to do this? Im situated in uthe north shore.
Any help that can get me through this will be much appreciated :-)

Maybe lock tighted/glued in, have you tried a bit of heat, use a small butane torch and not too much to melt the grips.

Could you drill through it and stick a bar/wire through it to get you better purchase on it? A long M5 bolt drilled through at 90 degrees would give you something to yank away on

DONE! thank you though.. in the end got a hammer to knock the crimper while its holding the bar-end. so much OLD glue crap around it.

Those vice grip marks are mongrel as fuck. You can come work in my shed anytime.

Lock the vice grips on the bar end, then hit the vice grip with a hammer :yes:

be very careful to check that with all the brutality you used you haven't damaged the inside of the right handlebar. This has the throttle which works the carburettor which controls the rate the bike will travel down the road.
If this is damaged you could end up with a jamming throttle......

Thanks for the input guys! Right side was fairly easy with no banging required.. But left was a bum.. Well got my product delivered.. Along with the brake/Clutch Lever and this is the final product!289374289375289376289374289375289376
