Send him a token of empathy from NZ: say it with a sachet of HTFU.

Good job they play soccer over here and the US, coz the rest of the world plays football. Some play very well at times. Mon the Reds.

The unanswered question .... why were his team's own fans heckling him about such a thing?

(Must say though, in my cricket team we sledged each other more than the opposition)

It's not uncommon these days. Arseholes say what they want, for personal kicks, then tell the victim to HTFU.

Blame the victim. The arsehole is just exercising "free speech", or, "it was just a joke". Trolling for LOLs. Ha ha.

I'm sick of it. There are people on KB who are on my ignore list by way of posting mysoginistic or XYZphobic "jokes" in the "jokes and humour" section. But that's my fault, isn't it, for reading the posts of course. And since they were "just jokes" no harm was "really meant". Sure.

The safety of being an anonymous member of the crowd, or at the end of an ADSL line. Let's see one of them brave fuckers say that stuff, alone, in the players face.

Shoulda turned the water cannons on the football fans (in this story). Arseholes.

Agree.

And some stuff is sacred, like not dissing mothers[esp deceased], kids or wife

Benji Marshall copped an earful in front of the nation a few years back, and he hasnt returned to his worlds best form.

Cricket is fairly full of asshole stuff, Jesse Rider copped a serious head knock and personal grievances and abuse seem to dominate the sport

I've teased and bullied people in my time. As I get older I understand more deeply that it was a reaction to being teased and bullied myself; and feeling safe becoming one of the crowd teasing someone else.

As I mature (my wife already thinks I smell like ripe cheese) and get "wiser" with age, I more and more just want everyone to treat each other decently.

(Except people who can't merge. Those fuckers ought to be hung.)

You can use the "crybaby" emoticon all you want. Meh. You'll either grow up or not. Funnily enough it's a choice.

It helps navigate those you want to spend time with, and those you dont.

In regards to aging wisdom and kindness toward others, it seems sex hormones are largely responsible for peeps acting like coonts and pricks. Just look at teenagers and bullying at schools. I've flicked off so many asshole friends, paid contractors, lawyers and doctors, these last 5 years, at times it can be disheartening to the point of despair

Such is our world. NZ's high rates of suicide, cancers and general poor social stats speak volumes in regard to nastiness.

Such a waste of good times and good health, brought down by a plethora of assholes

True, but not all situations are governed by ones own will and control, and many peeps have unknown mental handicaps preventing them from growing as a person, making good decisions, the family doctor wont tell em anything....

This threads OP soccer player had little control over the situation he found himself in.... he could go back to his own country.... but stuff like that is generally unhelpful as migration is so prevalent nowadays

Migration has got a lot to answer for in this regard

This minority of gamers so viciously attack game makers, often threatening to kill them, kill their children, financially ruin their lives, that some game developers have decided to leave the industry, while other future developers are weighing whether to enter it at all.

Those game makers ought to just HTFU?

Forums, chat rooms and social networking have the same.
Acidosis and autisms [related!] create these burning unbalanced unhinged passions, especially amongst excessive internetters who have forgone a normal life, in lieu of full emotional expression via the net.
Electronic devices and their radiations, also acidifies the body, creating dis-ease.

They need to go for more nature walks, and eat more greens, consume less coffee, alcohol, meats and processed foods etc.

Plus, gaming is inherently hyper aggressive with kill objectives delineating users souls, coupled with youthful arrogance and testosterone fired aggression hiding behind a keyboard.

peeps need to use hookers more often

A code of practice, not guidelines, is the best way to deal with abuse around the office.

Workplace bullying is costing Kiwi businesses tens of millions of dollars and pressure is being put on the Government to address the problem with "more teeth".

Professor Tim Bentley of AUT's New Zealand Work Research Institute says while the Department of Labour is writing guidelines to deal with the problem, its Australian equivalent is implementing a stronger code of practice. Some Australian states outlaw workplace bullying.

Bentley says when bullying cases go to court in New Zealand the onus is on the claimant to prove an organisation didn't undertake a proper investigation.

"That can often be difficult. A code of practice is the best way to deal with the problem. If a case comes to court, organisations have to show they've followed to that standard. It has more teeth."

The professor says a UK study has shown bullying and other forms of conflict cost British taxpayers $1900 a year for every working adult.

A study by Queensland's Griffith University in 2001 estimated workplace bullying cost Australian businesses between $7.5-16 billion a year.

Bentley says New Zealand businesses are wasting tens of millions of dollars every year on......

I used to suck up to pack leader bullies. I now believe that humanity moving forward depends upon a quantum shift in consciousness, and I believe the age old ways of surviving amongst our fittest, ie Caesars ugly mob, is contributing to our general global declines.

Viewing matters in terms of short term gains vrs long term gains, offers a perspective to where you want to be in 5 yrs time...

We all have choices to make, friends to associate with, places to go

http://www.stuff.co.nz/business/industries/3583645/Kiwis-worst-in-the-world-for-bullying

One in five Kiwi workers suffer from workplace bullying, one of the worst rates in the world.

The figures are revealed in a university survey released today.

A joint university research team – from Auckland, Waikato, Massey and London – polled more than 1700 workers from the health, education, hospitality and travel sectors asking how frequently they were exposed to "negative acts" at work.

Overall 17.8 per cent of respondents were identified as victims of bullying.

The international range was between 5 per cent and 20 per cent.

Higher rates of bullying were found in the education and health sectors and also in kitchen "hot spots" within the hospitality industry.

Bullying included bosses picking on workers, workers harassing colleagues and workers intimidating bosses........

I agree. If I heard cunts behaving like that (whether I supported the individual being harassed or not) I would be inclined to physically "encourage" them to be quiet for an extended period of time. You guys can say HTFU etc...but that is a load of utter bollocks.
