Yup! She has asked me to organise a trip out here. If anyone doesn't know who she is, she's a 5 x Land speed record holder on her BMW S1000RR.

Being tied up with Shorai, it's a natural promotion for me and she's a nice person too. So I'm intersted in hearing from people involved with speed records and particularly any ladies in racing or record breaking, as she'd love to meet you.
PM me! :niceone:

what's she coming here for?
To promote amazing-ness?
She should go to the Burt Munro rally Ed... For a very reasonable fee I'll show her the way in case she gets lost...

She wants to use her passport before it expires...
Actually I was chatting to her and asked her if she'd be interested in coming down our neck of the woods sometime and she said she'd be keen. So I am arranging a bit of a do that would be good both for me as Shorai's NZ agent and for my dealers, and do a bit to promote women in the sport as well.
Shorai Inc. USA are involved with her record attempts at Bonneville, so that's how we know each other.

I have been in discusions with several interested parties and Valerie is still keen to come down here. It is turning into rather a major event, and well beyond the simple promotion for Shorai NZ Ltd.
It will be a celebration and promotion of women in racing in NZ with some serious high profile businesses and media interested in the event. Therefore, planning has taken on a life of its own and I have had to look a bit further out. I'll be looking for sponsors to help defray Valerie's costs, mainly airfares and accommodation, (sorry guys, she prefers to have her own digs), so not too much in the way of dollars required.
I have the venue set, (Pukekohe Race Track), and the costs of that are covered by businesses and ticket sales for the day, leaving only Valerie's costs and maybe some advertising to cover. The event has attracted keen interest from many people in motorcycle racing in NZ and some big names will be there. So once I get some details finalised. I will keep you up to date. It will be a great event for anyone wanting to have a fun track day in the company of some famous locals and Valerie.
It is turning into a possible series of such events, at this stage two are envisaged, featuring high profile people in the racing scene, where interested riders can attend and have fun.
Meantime, here's a video of one of Valerie's first attempts at Bonneville. This motorcycle has a completely stock engine and very little else done to it!

14,000rpm in top! 212mph on a stock engine. She is now in the process of fitting an Akropovic system.

212mph on a stock engine? And one of the first sponsors she notes is HP Racing parts? Are you sure that's completely stock?

Yup! It was gearing up to now. I had asked her what she'd done to the bike for the record run and she said the motor was stone stock and she was waiting on funds or sponsorship to tweak the engine.

You would probably get crushed in the rush... Besides, your Motobatt is too heavy to lug around, I can carry a Shorai in my belt bag. I might offer a signed Shorai battery as a gate prize... ;)
She's fully booked up to end January, so it will more likely be next season, now.
Plans are more firmly in place now for Karel's day at Pukekohe on the 19th January, she's combining with Bayride, and I am just waiting to confirm how many of our lovely racing ladies will be there. Avalon is keen to attend and I've emailed the others about it.
