Been signed off work for a bit by the doc and am getting bored as.

Anyone recommend me some bike-related films to watch? Saw "Closer to the Edge" yesterday which was brilliant.

And got Twist of the Wrist vol2 for tomorrow.

Interested in everthing from adventure to race tuition. Not that fussed about choppers unless it's mostly from an engineering point of view then it's pretty cool.

Want something on DVD or AVI that I can watch on the couch instead of YouTub etc tho, am lazy

Twist of the wrist volume 1 and 2 (great sportbike riding tutorials)
Dust to Glory (doco about the Baja offroad endurance race, really good!)
The Doctor, the Tornado, and the Kentucky Kid (Doco about a particular Motogp Laguna Seca race, narrated by Ewan Mcgregor. Gives a good overview of what goes into the prep for these races)
Faster (Motogp doco)
Fastest (sequel to Faster)

Madness in the Desert – BBC doco about the history of the Paris Dakar rally.
Race to Dakar – Charley Boorman competes in the Paris Dakar, much like Long Way Down/Round but faster and with less luggage.

Both are available on YouTube

African Odyssey - A bit like the Long Way Down, but it's four kiwi lads with bugger all biking experience riding from Cape Town to London.

It was a few years ago now, not sure if you can still pick up a DVD from their site http://themovie.africanodyssey.co.nz/

Thanks all, managed to find everything apart from the ones below.

Thanks, found all of those apart from Twist of the Wrist vol 1. I've seen vol 2 and have both of the books, both DVDs are on Amazon but can't find Twist I on Fatso (I have a 10 disc/month membership with them so I am pretty reluctant to buy DVDs). Might flick them an email and suggest they buy a copy, don't think it will get me very far!

Dear cbfb, I must apologise.

Please do not watch Torque or Biker Boyz. I was just joking, but now I know I went too far. In fact, it's not funny at all. Please, I beg you, don't watch those two movies. If you do, you will probably go on a rampage before gauging your eyes out due to the shock and horror of the terrible "biker" movies. If that happens, I will forever regret making a joke for you to watch those movies. I will feel guilty for the rest of my life and will not ride or go near a motorcycle, ever.

I am sorry.

+1 to On Any Sunday (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On_Any_Sunday).

The Ghost Rider videos are a must watch, too (the European ones where the dude(s) trolls the cops, sometimes in excess of 300kmh).

LOL nice... I was politely ignoring those ones :)

Although it might be my turn to apologise, I didn't like to say anything incase you seriously did think it was actually possible to watch these abominations of cinema.

Damn there is a brilliant Youtube IOM doco that I watched but can't remember what it was called - I believe it was a BBC doco. i remember watching it & actually hoping that the racing would be called off on the final race as you got to know the human side of the competitors & didn't want any of them crashing.

There are some good old BMW docos on youtube if you're into the off road vintage enduro thing.

If you want to diversify a bit, the endless summer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Endless_Summer) is good - made by Bruce brown of On any Sunday fame.
His son Dana also made Step into Liquid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqzHvcwJmQY) which is in that laidback SoCal style. It is an amazing movie that you'll prob appreciate if you like exciting pasttimes.

Otherwise I always search for Lada Niva 4wding on youtube & laugh my head off at what they can do:clap:

Also if you like Long Way series, try "Riding solo to the top of the world. " Brilliant cinematography.

Most biker movies are crap but other people I have spoken to liked "Freebird" (2008). It doesn't get great comments on IMDB but that's possibly because it's British - set in Wales. Worth a watch.

If you need a change from all those competition vids there is Che Guevara's "The Motorcycle Diaries".

Came across this You Tube vid yesterday, made in the late 60's about 3 guys on a road trip from Denver to Panama City-The commentary is a bit corny in places, after all it was the 60's but pretty funny at times, its kind off a mixture of On Any Sunday and Easy Rider with maybe a bit of Vanishing Point thrown in.They started out on BSA Victors but these became unreliable so switched to Kawasaki trail bikes before crossing into Mexico (Ithink). The link above is episode one and follows through to episode 7 each about 15 mins long.
Well worth a look
