Was reading issue of MCN where a reader wrote asking what to do about the black plastics that had faded to grey on his bike. The solution is to use a heat gun on them it seems. I gave it a go on the chain guard on my vfr800 and sure enough it worked a treat. A bit patchy in places but only if you look really closely.

Black tyre paint works a treat as well. Just make sure the plastic is clean and dry before brushing it on. Let first layer dry, apply second coat and this lasts for months.
A day or two after applying, wash with sponge and this will take out any excess, minimising brush marks as well.

Works on most plastics, used to do the same thing on MX bike plastics that had stress bruises from drops & prangs

I thought Armourall was the product specifically developed for this use?

Turtle wax F21,,,plus it restores scratched visors like nothing else.
Flame polishing as it was called in the plastic water tank industry brings the oils to the surface, but with some plastics it will bugger the item real fast.
I prefer F21.

Yes it is but the plastic was so faded that the Armourall or Pacer stuff I use just wears off. By the way the Pacer brand I use is 500 ml and costs bugger at $12 or similar, going to buy some more this week so will post actual price. And their 'Grapewash' is really good too and cheap - 4 litres for around $20.

Just got my new bottle of "Restorall" (Like Armourall) from Pacer- $10.48 for 500 ml. Unbelievable value.
