My old mum is in need of a new lawnmower the easier to start the better, she doesnt want an electric mower which was going to be my solution.Anyone had any experience with a petrol mower with electric start? any good and are they a lot more expensive? Any other options?Ma is healthy enough but finds it really hard to start the one she has and after using it myself can see why it takes a hefty pull to get it going. As i say any other options? (no she doesnt want a goat).I would mow them for her myself but cant be naffed going to ch-ch on a weekly basis to do it and ive offered to pay for someone to do them but she wont have that either.

fussy bitch.
4 toker might be easier.
Some gay chainsaws have a 'soft start' - pulling the cord winds up a spring, when its wound, it unleashes on the starter.
Minimal effort. But. Tbh, if you cant start a tool, you probably shouldnt be hanging off it

Zone start mowers are the way for the elderly and weaker specimens of society, usually $100-$150 more than a conventional one, but if you shop around a bit, you can find some good deals. Masport or Torro would be my preference.:2thumbsup

It's Chch, just buy a cheap push lawnmower and when she is fed up with it, she will give in and let you get a student to do it for a six pack of beer
Alternatively, get her what every women wants: a pony... :D
(Not sure why she doesn't want an electric one. The cordless mower wynw was talking about sounds good. )

Na this is what she needs; Honda's 210km/h "mean mower"
It's got Motorbike pedigree, does a good job of the lawns (tho only at speeds upto 15mph) & will get her down to bingo or the shops in record time

For ease of use a Flymo is great if they still make them.

I think it was more the ease of starting, rather than the ease of pushing that was the problem.:niceone:

Back in the day when I worked on mowers for a living, Flymos were very easy to start and use. That may have been a long time ago. :shit:

Was the same back in the day. Back then bike shops were mower shops to. And we only opened Saturday mornings on weekends.

Your Mom sounds as cool as my Mom was. Tell her to get stuffed is my advice. They friggen bang on about being independent, but honestly, lawns? If you can afford to do it, pay someone to cut her grass. She will wind up a bit to start with, ignore her :D

Just get a decent modern mower that starts easily like a Masport alloy with a B&S motor. Can pick them up off trademe for $300.
Drew
24th September 2013, 18:42
And does it cut grass?
No. But that's because of an uncharacteristic move on my part, to make it safe.
It would have been simple to leave it able to cut grass, easier than removing the stuff to make it work even.

There was a model came out a few years back where you wound up a spring, then turned a knob and it would spring into life, (hopefully!) Don't know if they're still available, but worth inquiring about.
