It’s the first official acknowledgement of the Z1000’s replacement, which is believed to ditch the old ZX-9R-derived, 1043cc four-cylinder motor in favour of a full-fat 998cc ZX-10R unit, complete with nigh-on 200bhp.

There’s the usual stylised teaser video to go with the new site, giving brief glimpses of the bike but not enough to gain a full view of it. What can be seen is that the new machine sports a massive rear tyre – at least 190-section, possibly 200-section – and the Z1000-signature quad exhaust exits, albeit with the main silencing done by a large under-engine collector box.

The bike’s front can also be glimpsed, showing a heavy-browed headlight fairing with quad lamps under its distinctive frown.

It’s thought that the new Z1000 will be directed at superbike-derived nakeds, particularly Aprilia’s V4 Tuono and BMW’s forthcoming naked S1000, although it will also face a challenge from purpose-made naked bikes like KTM’s soon-to-be-released Super Duke 1290.

One other thing the site reveals is the bike’s launch date: The 5th of November. We’re hoping for fireworks…

Why didn't they just make a ZX-10S (street).

I thought the idea of the Z1000 was to be for street/everyday use, have enough power and be exposed to the elements. And to be a sexy bike.

If you want a close to 200hp bike why wouldn't you just buy the ZX10R?

My point is more who is the buyer going to be. If I want a street friendly, easy bike with more than enough power, the current Z1000 is perfect. If I want to go faster than 200km/h comfortably I'd get a bike with a fairing. I don't see a huge benefit of more power in a Z1000 frame/style that's still limited in speed the same as the old bike. Lower quality suspension/brakes and not sports developed frame.

So keep a comfortable sport tourer and for the super duke competition do a style change on the ZX10.

If I had the coin when it comes out and doesnt look like the arse end of a bus I would be at the head of the line.

Not everybody wants or can cope with the position of a sports bike.

I would hope with that motor it will have a good suspension package and some decent traction control.

I like nakeds.

If I had the coin I'd probably take a Blade and naked it.

All the goodness of the power and handling of the Blade with the nakedness I desire.
