Hey guys I'm just wondering why we don't have the nationals starting in the north island rather than down south?
Ie have the Ni rounds first then si rounds afterwards
Im sure theres good reason but I just can't think what it would be.

Do a search Frosty. I remember it being disussed here in previous years and the NZSBK rounds were re-scheduled to take place the week before the NZV8's to try and maximise motor racing spectator numbers, rather than pick up the dreg's at a later date. Not sure if that's still the case....but what difference does it make, they've gotta start somewhere........?

Cant / wont speak for Billy, but that was certainly the case when I was scheduling the Rounds.

You all want / expect the best / most coverage for your Sponsors, and sadly the summer is the time when folks have the money and the TIME to come watch us have fun.

Unfortunately, every OTHER Motorsport code has picked up on that too, even other 2-wheeled variants like Jumping Bikes.

The other major constraint is, of course, track availability - we NEED to present our "brand" in the peak times, and like it or not, that peak is around the same times as the Cars. Hence the balancing act to be just before ( pref ) or just after them, just to access the crowds ( and their dollars for the Organising Clubs )

As I'm sure the BillyMeister will attest, its just not as easy as those at the handlebar end of the equation would like to think !

Notwithstanding also that the car side of racing has MORE CLOUT MORE MONEY MORE SPECTATORS So they will always get first pick

Notwithstanding also that the car side of racing has MORE CLOUT MORE MONEY MORE SPECTATORS So they will always get first pick

They also have more defined groups of users which doesn't help - main series, subsidiary series,Classics, historics, Drift etc...

from experience i can tell you it's got harder to book a weekend - even two years ahead...the calendar now has a number of major fixtures at each track and the hiring authority tries to work around those. To change the dates in any major way would need at least three years lead time and even then if the major car series comes in and says, no , that one has to be ours, you're going to be moved...

JUST TO BE CLEAR-- I don't care personally. Its not a dealbreaker or the end of days stuff for me. I just asked because I thought if the racing started in the NI on even a Bianual basis then the attendance from guys up north might be better.and a minefeild round the weekend after cemetry might make it more worth while for the South island guys to cross the ditch.
Chill bro sok Im jes askin.
;) Ya never know There mighta been NO reason at all just thats the way its always been
