View Full Version : My Stealth Bucket

Im new to buckets, a few weeks ago I bought a 50cc bike to race, turns out nobody round here has 50's so I rode round the track on my own untill they put me out of my misery and lapped me.

Looks like the 50 is not a good long term serious bucket.

After a bit of humming and haring, trying to decide what bike to sacrifice to the gods for a bucket (tzr250 got damn colse to being dismembered) a friend gave me a rolling frame rz250 . I bought a motor a few weeks ago on Trade me, its an FXR150 which should be pretty nice I think.

Tonight Ive done a bit of a trial fit , seems to be plenty of room, still got all the skin on my knuckles. Ive got to make some new engine mounts a bit of welding swearing and staring at it should have it sorted in about a week.

Cos its matte black I thought of the stealth bit, who knows I might suprise it with a can of paint before its big day out.

awesome mate! i like to see people building something different. too many bikes out there are very stock. Keep us up to date and post more pics when you can.

My bucket has finally been finished! taken bloody ages! Worth the effort though, will post pics this weekend... Cant wait to hear your comments on subject

Looks good. I almost got into buckets, before a "cager" and bridge got into me...

So, in the near future I'm selling my Blue beast of a bucket, on offer to KB folk first :) (and only probably). Look out for the add in the racing section, coming soon.

Might seem an obvious question, but no chance the Fixxer motor would fit the 'priller rolling chassis?

Mmm maybe it would, but with a few more engineering chalanges (sp), the RZ looks to be quite a bit stiffer . Plus I didnt have the heart to cut the wee baby up. Im pretty annoyed with myself because I had a KR250 frame which I sold about a year ago, would have been perfect.

I dunno, it was only a few years back I got 3rd in the Battle of the Buckets at ‘puna on my 50. Was catching on 2nd place too.

[thread hijack- where's that raghead emicon gone?]
Make sure all youse buggers come up to Blenheim if they have the Labour Day meeting at the kart track. I have raced most bucket circuits in NZ & this one is a real stand out track, best in my opinion.

I’m coming down from wgtn so a few hours up the road is easy.

Dont worry, the 50's not going anywhere. Be alright for Blenheim (if I make it) or if some others turn up.

The FXR motor is fitted , need to sort out the exhaust ,chain and electrics wit a bit of luck it might start by the weekend.

nice bucket boss,
my first decent road bike was an RZ250 - those seat's n frames are all good in my book.
But the fxr motor? had one of then 1 week - was so boring. economic though

I've considered searching out a Fxr motor for buckets, just out of interest i'm wondering if anyone knows how well they go? would have thought pretty good being 'modern' and everything.

Ive got mine going now, cant tell you how good it is only had the the quick fang around the block ,I was more concerned with anything falling off and was trying to figure if the gearing was wrong, paranoid about jetting. So it will have to wait till Sunday to say what I really think. Sounds good though !

Yep. Had a few issues, so had to start again. Just about there, but I'm not sure the pipe will fit. Then I have to rip that old airbox off, chuck the side cover (carb) on, re-jet (hopefully not), and try to tighten EVERYTHING, including the spokes, to try and eliminate all the flex and hopefully get rid of the death wobble.

Oh, and get rid of all that plasticy shit on the outside of the back tyre. Maybe add a fork brace. Perhaps even clean it! MrsB said I'd be in BIG trouble if I spent all day Saturday on it..... may as well start sleeping on the sofa now... :dodge:

Bren_chch

Yeah the battery is ok, just had it on the charger earlier.

no spark at all

stanko
8th September 2005, 16:12
Battery could still be rooted, test it with a bit of wire across the terminals. Does it have points or cdi.
Has a wire come out of a connector? 1 coil or 2 ? Try holding a lead and kick it over , get an electrical sensation? big or small?

Bren_chch
8th September 2005, 16:17
oh hang on it dont matter me bike runs with no battery anyhow lol!!!

its points, it got nothing anywhere, it used to spark at the points on contact, but not even doing that now!
