Go to the pub and watch it there. You can spend the money Sky wants for the sports channels, on beer instead.

Much prefer the sprint races anyway. Get a bit boring watching them go round and round and round ALL DAY.

If it makes anyone feel better, I'll be watching it on the big screen at home on Sky, followed by the Japanese Grand Prix.

Re Sky though, the only reason I have it, is to watch the F1 and motorcycling.
Now they dont even have the rights for the World superbike championship. You're fucked if you do, and youre fucked if you dont.

Tazz
10th October 2013, 14:36
Will be streamed on the interwebz somewhere surely? I don't even have a t.v. anymore but I was slutted when they took the F1 off channel ONE years ago too.

Bathhurst is not the same nowadays, loved it in the 70,s and 80,s but sorta lost interest in it these days.

Agreed, it's a yawn fest. If ever I felt compelled to glance at it, I would watch the first 10 laps or so and the last 20... it can get interesting when the weather turns to shit but other than that? yeah na even the hourly recaps can be dreary.

In saying that, it has be known of me to fall asleep watching a MotoGP race.

+1

Besides with Falcon's death warrant signed and Commodores' production in their dying throes Bathurst's years must also be numbered.

Bathurst is as much fun as watching Harley Sportsters run against Harley Sportsters on flat round track,,,,who gives a shit.

Might watch if Jaguar comes back.

I don't think the "Great Race" is dying at all.Now that Nissan and Mercedes have got in it's opened the door for manufacturers from all over the world putting in teams.
My best memories of Bathurst was the 70's with the big V8 fords and holdens, straight 6 valiants and anything else with 4 wheels getting thrashed around the track.

Since I own a Holden they've got to win :innocent: but then, in the rest of the family is a Merc and a Ford, so it's more fun for using that for some ribbing.

I've been for rides when it's on (wow, roads were empty and awesome) or sat and watched a bit if I pass by and don't have something else to do. As said, first and last few laps are normally the most interesting...

Cheers for the link Hayd3n.

Picked my moments I think. Watched it for about 10m in the middle (lap eightysomething?) during which Murph side-fucked the wall with his car. Pity they didn't show an incar shot.

Buggered off to do more important things (BBQ dinner) and when I returned was treated to 20-30m of some fuckin' good racing to finish the race with.

Every Bathurst I have ever watched has been epic, Though I don't generally don't bother with the four hours in the middle.

Having said that, I spent all of today at White Water World and didn't see any of the racing.

I was at the supermarket yesterday morning (Sunday papers etc) and there were a couple in their late 50's with a loaded trolley of beer/chips and a roll of paper towels from what I could see. They were both wearing the exact same Ford shirt. I stood and looked at them until one made eye contact with me and then I asked ''Bathurst Day''? all I got was a sheepish ''yip'' as if it were a bad thing to been seen in public with your spouse wearing the same clothes.

Got back to Hamilton from the Pink Ribbon ride in Auckland (what a great effort by all concerned!!!!!!) Down to the pub by 3.00 pm to watch the rest of the race - free hamburgers supplied by the host and nice cold beer.

What I noticed most was NO ADS - you beauty it can stay on Sky forever, when it was on TV3 it was 10 minutes racing 5 minutes ads and then a re-cap every hour for all the things you missed.

Great Day Sunday - Great Pink Ribbon Ride - Great Beer - Great Race

But any more solutions come up over the last 12 months for getting to watch the race?

Or at least watching it around the Moto GP?

Any live feeds anyone knows about???

I watched it last year on the web- after abusing the crap out of sky on V8 supercars' facebook page. The excrement from sky also stole WRC a few years back...

All the good bits will be on youtube by Monday night :) The aussie news shows seem generous in this regard.
Watched practice of Montegi yesterday, looked awesome. Despite how much fun it is to watch the cages crash MotoGP wins easy :)

Good to see Aussie has similar road repair crews as nz, track falling apart after only 60 laps.

Yup, just like NZ repairs. No warning signs out alerting road users to the repairs. If they are true to form, they'll spread some sand around when "finished" then fuck off without sweeping it up...
