super glue + baking soda can be used to build up broken parts

Or build it up using Araldite. Dremmel to shape when set hard. This worked for the locking tabs on the visor clips on an old AGV helmet.

are there any markings to identify the plastic type???
eg < ABS >??????
problem is to, if you plastic weld the tabs , you may damage the paintwork

I take it the clip/spigot would be were the cross's are you can use a flat head screw and body filler to make the desired shape etc and glue/fix it to the side cover.

bugger..is all I can say.
missed out.
got a tail unit coming from the UK is painted purple but otherwise straight... all the tabs are mint.
No idea on shipping cost, using the NZ post shipping option where you get the UK dealer send it to a UK address and then NZpost send you a bill to get it to NZ.
I've done it a few times so far and its heaps cheaper.
They have USA and UK mail addresses.
Side coverers in gold you can still bye new.
carbs are off getting re built ... update soon.

Bike will not rev past 5K.
Don't know about you but that makes for a shit ride.
The bike is like riding a big fat lazy boy but quickly. I like it!
The thing has done 33k so as normal lets pull it apart.
carbs were full of shit and thanks to a ultrasonic bath they are looking mint minus the paint that came off in the bath.
Next are new float valves... and mint to go.

they where black but I can live with the change.
293967
Still a little left to sort, once done it the GSX1100EZ will be a good runner, and close to mint.
Shame it will not stay mint..... big mods are planned..! (I'm torn on the thought) keep it mint or mod it hard.
Its in good company..... better than sex when your old..walking ride. (ok not 100% true)

Carbs are nearly finished. All assembled just checking the float bowl height.
Made a little thingy to assist and it works great.
Glad I did as the second carb did not flow fuel, that would have pissed me right off after fighting with the airbox rubbers for two week getting them in to find this out.!

GSx1100 .... There is a rattle when revving the motor. I thought it was the cam chain so I pulled the tappet cover and everything was fine. Cam chain looked good and was tight and do you think I could find the rattle?
Well posted on RS Resources and a dude on there told me a story where the header pipe was resonating due to a miss fitted collet. Yep that seems to be the reason, but I have been waiting for a gasket for 3 weeks now to see if this is the issue.
SO.... this weekend it will be put it back together and take it for a ride. yea.

Have purchased a set of motion pro carb balancing tool which I am looking forward to receiving from the mighty USA and You shop USA.
this thing is like new inside.

And to add I have purchased a Bandit swingarm conversion kit and are looking at GSXR1100 USD forks, for the change over after the RG and Kat have been finished. No harm sourcing parts now is there?
Oh and add new side covers, which are on there way and some plastifix stuff for the tail piece.
Going to start looking at spray painting, might even build a spray booth under my house.

I have 1994 GSXR1100 front end on its way from the good old USA, add all the spacer bits from Kataman.com for a GS1200 swingarm (received) this going to be cool.
Many many thing still to purchase before I start the build.
"like finish the RG500 first"
Don't know about you but I find it hard concentrating on one project at a time, give me a good clit I'm ok for 10min but after that ......
front end coming form USA, 1994 17k 174USD + 145NZ = cheap .. forks, triple clamps and caliper..6 pots. I love Ushop NZ post.
B12 swingarm will be installed with 5.5 rear rim.
Example..

Well all I can say is... SORTED.
Might have taken a while but I have fixed those side covers.
And I might add... I am soooo impressed that ... I think I am quite cool.
Check this out.
Just in case you are a moron... I have a GSX1100EZ and the side cover were held on with tape and a bolt where tabs should have been. Review done.
299157
This is filling in the bolt hole.
299160
Used a good cover to make a mould and here is the final tab.. strong and like new.
299161
299164
299162
Then fill it in..

299165

299166
I have gone from no tabs... to two tabs.... yea
299167

and more ..
299169
That there is a new tab... has grease on it for easy removal after testing.
299170
bottom tab...
Formed one half and then the other .. very cool.
299171
Side cover fits perfect, you cab see the crack that will be repaired next, paint is not affected.
Great product.
And the black stuff is where the hole was and the bolt went through, 10min and you can sand.
299172
still not sure why the pictures are small, everything the same on other sites and they are big. ??????
