Hey guys, i've never been to Waiheke and thought i'd go for a ride over there at some stage.
Is it worth it or are all the roads 50km? how much does the ferry cost?
Is anyone interested in comming along once i sort a date?

i went across there on my old gpx250 stayed the night. going back a few years.
there a few segments of 80kph roads but they don't last long. a fair bit of lose metal. and they are slow windy bits. but overall i think its a bit of fun.
as long as your just interested in doing the tourist thing and not a race but a slow waddle. stop at a few cafe's etc, a bit of a walk.
but i think its a fun thing going on a car ferry with the bike and it's worth the trip.
the whole island can be covered in a day easily with stops. definately pick your day. as if bad weather has been a problem there the roads can get messy.
but hey its a bit of fun and something different for sure.
and give me a holla if ya serious about it for a day trip id tag along.
just need some warning.

Yeah,
It's a bit pricy.
I wanted to go just to see Moto-Kiwi [ the main man for Guzzi parts in NZ] but after being pillion on his bike around the island, it only took 10 mins to do a lap and its all 50km/h as far as I could tell, and real busy on the weekends.
Its almost cheaper to cross cook straight as it is to go there- crazy eh?

It's pootle around at low speed - but still very beautiful - better for a weekend at the beach than a day ride. 2 hours and it's all roads covered.
