Hi Guys,

We need the community help. We have a biker missing since yesterday.
He left for a ride with another friend and we don't know any details about his whereabouts since mid day yesterday.
He has a BMW S1000 RR that was purchased from Cyclespot. The friend he left with is the previous owner of the BMW. We believe the Cyclespot guys have the details and know the person name our friend left with yesterday.

We are trying to locate any of the people who left with yesterday, as we do not have any details about the friend he left with.
We are looking for Cyclespot owner (Grant) personal contact details as he has the name and contact details of the other rider.

If anyone can please post on my private Grant details, or even contact Grant and pass my phone number (021 267 66 31 ) \as we are trying to find the name and contact details of the previous owner of the bike as they went together for the ride. We are trying to find out where they last seen him.

There is a missing person case open with Police already since 2 am this morning. No sign of him at any hospital yet. We are organizing a searching party on SH16 as we believe he came alone from Welsfort to Albany.

Cheers,

Liviu

A description of the bike and what the rider could possibly be wearing might help.

Does he have a particular district he likes riding in?

Not much chance really of me seeing anything, I was going north, lots of bikes coming south though, plenty of people out and about so I'd say on a beautiful day like today there's every chance someone would have seen something if there's anything to see. Best of luck with the search.

Went out to Mangawhai heads today down sh16 and I don't remember seeing any red s100rr's but again wasn't especially looking for one, but would think I would remember seeing one as there not all that common.
Hope everyone is ok and he just had one to many and is sleeping off a hangover somewhere.

That is an awful shock. It just seemed likely he'd stopped off somewhere or gone elsewhere as we do but to have died...oh so sad.

I'm struggling for words.

Hi Guys,

We were on site seconds after Westpac found the location. Unfortunatelly the accident happened yesterday.
It happened on a gentle curve there was a brake mark before the curve no other marks on the street. He was found still attached to the bike about 5 meters from where he left the road.
There are no other details at this stage of what and why, if the family will allow it I will update the thread with future details.

Regards,

Liviu

Since we haven't had a situation like this for a while, and plenty of new members, a reminder of the site rules is best

Discussion of accidents

Accident resulting in death or serious injury

Please show respect and consideration for the bikers, friends and family involved
Names and details are not to be discussed for 24 hours after the accident unless they are already public (in the media) or are posted by family, close friends or Moderators. When News sites publish details it is guaranteed that family and loved ones have been informed. It is the job of the Police to inform them, not this web site.
Should an accident result in deaths a RIP/Biker Down thread will be started once the names and details are public knowledge (in the media)
Should an accident result in major injuries a Biker Down thread will be started once the names and details are public knowledge (in the media)
A RIP/Biker Down thread is for condolences only; speculation and general discussion about the circumstances should be in a seperate thread

The site Administrators and Moderators reserve the right to remove a thread or posts
Any accident that happens at a public gathering is fair comment, subject to the above stipulations
Discussion of any accident not involving death or serious injury should be kept to a single thread. Respect for those involved should be shown at all times.
Fictitious or malicious speculation will be removed without notification and the person who posted the comments will be strongly censured

My condolences Liviu and family members.

I am so sorry to read the events of today, and the tragic end result. Thoughts are with you for the loss of your friend.

I know if I didn't have my friend arranged to meet me for a drink the evening of my crash it would have been a similar outcome as 111 were never called and no one else knew I was missing.

A tragic reminder to riders to always let others know where they are heading, especially if riding alone. I am so saddened to hear of the outcome today.

Not good at all. My condolences.

This makes me even more glad that I plucked up the courage and did an ACC sponcerd advanced riding course yesterday.* Something I now believe should be done by all riders and regularly as a refresher. I've been riding since 1982 (most of that time daily) but I still found it very useful.

*Just to be clear, I don't know the rider or the circumstance of the accident; in no way do I mean imply anything about their riding ability.

Agreed. I used to text a guy mate at regular intervals when on long trips. Now I dont bother cause he made out like I was stupid for doing so, so I just text others instead.
