its now reached the treshold where everyone( and everything) wear high viz vests. Everyone from a chicken to a trolley boy at the supermarket. There are so many wearing them now, you have a better chance of sticking out from the crowd by not wearing one.

Oh dear, being protected from our own stupidity again.

Yeah, Hi viz is becoming the new shell suit. Lots of folk up here wear hi viz tee shirts & the like from the forestry. Hand me downs I guess with the implication that they may have heard of work as a concept. Hi viz trolley transporters at Countdoon? Who's the idiot, the employee, the customer or the legislator?
I'm having a wee seethe.

Better now. Chicken tastes much nicer than the hi viz hoodlum up the road who I bit a few days ago when he tried to pinch me gate.

Heard something interesting the other day about object identification. A solid colour is pick up much faster than multi colour, that why cammo works for army's. Not to completely hide but to take long for the eye to pick up a threat. Same with navy boats in the first world war that had big black stripes on them.

So wearing a fluro vest makes you harder to see. Same with multi coloured helmets etc.

Yeah I rolled up next to a woman texting at the lights the other day with the sunshield down on my helmet...she put the phone down pretty quick.

Can't stop wearing the hivis now, I'm too chicken.

...the most notable and striking object I noticed on Colombo St in Chch a day or so ago, was a bloke in black overalls...every other spot in my vision was crowded with hi-vis orange or green and unnoticeable as real objects...

You will find that a gray ship is very hard to spot on the horizon. We don't paint em with red or black lines on the hulls anymore as modern day missiles have the ability to pick out changes in colour.
