Can any of you say that you've greeted a cop with what you really have on your mind?
Kind of goes something like this - "Good morning you fucking wanker, what the fuck do you think gives you the right to drive on my road, then have the indecency of telling me how to ride my bike? I can do 200kph safely, why don't you get off your over paid arse and catch the rapists and murders"
Or do you greet him or her very politely hoping for some leniancy on the ticket you're about to receive?
Yeh. I thought so.

He's been let off farkin lightly for the offence, only $850 fine and 1 month disqualified, sure the minimum for that kind of carry on is 6 months instant for 50kph over or is it 3 months, plus there should've been another $400 at least for breach of licence conditions.
Good to see the cops aren't letting the cops off, top marks to that HP officer  even though he might get some flak from some other officers.
In hindsight though the cop who got pulled was prolly one of the few cops that would pull a bike for speeding and let em off with a warning more than often, being a biker himself. But yeah, if ya get caught you pay, no way around that.

I'm not anti-cop indoo. Just anti-wasters, anti -hypocrites, anti-espousers of bullshit. Which, I guess, covers most of their hierachy. But there are also few ordinary cops that fit that category. This guy was one of them, along with the speed dealers, rapists and thieves that have recently been before the courts.
Wouldn't it be great if the cops gave us nothing to criticise. :spudflip:

I got snapped not too long ago at 51 over. The cop booked me at 49 over cause he said I wasn't riding dangerously. Still gave me a $600 fine. Alls fair in love and cop avoidance. I was going to spend that $600 on a radar detector.

Don't denying that. But how much experience had this guy had if he is still on his learners. Yes, he may have, MAY HAVE, had years on the track or the dirt but the road with cages around is a totally different scenario. I know all the args about 250 pocket rockets and the unfair 70 km limit for learners and yes I agree these need to be addressed sooner rather than later but heh in my small count 4 laws broken adds up!!! I think that you have to be charged with dangerous driving to get a 6 month disqualification. Maybe Snr Const Redman only charged him with excessive speed.
And anyway, the court makes the penalty, not the Police officer.

He would most likely have been charged with exceeding 100kph. Because the speed was more than 50kph over the posted limit the cop could not deal with it by way of an instant fine, meaning that the offending driver had to be summonsed to court. As best as I can recall disqualification for exceeding 100kph is discretionary, (up to the court to decide), where as other more serious offences, (drink driving etc) have mandatory minimum disqualification periods.

you speed, you pay. Simple. It's a tad over the top him resigning i reckon, but hey, i suppose cops need to live by the laws the enforce...
I am very interested in joining the police, i would love to be in the armed offenders, but i KNOW that i would be one of the cops speeding etc, so i never will join because it is not a good look to be hypocritical. Plus then i would have to resign also...not cool! :violin:

So what are people pissed off the fact that he was speeding or that he got a light fine?
All of us will do something in the future or have done that goes against what we are "standing/employed" for. for example most of us signed a not to use the internet for personal stuff at work thing but if you reading this at work guess what you broke the law (company law). So the fact that he was speeding well we all do but he should have known better being a cop and all.
On getting a light fine. I will use the internet thing again if a company wants too they can legaly go through a dismisal process of getting you ass fired and trust me they are well aware of your private internet usage at work so basically most of us is getting away with something every day.
No the cop should not have been speeding.
No the punishment should not have been so low but he got away with so good on him.
I bet you if it was a KB member that got of so light we would have been happy for him (Well most of us at least)

Sure SD, but unfortunately since the LTSA and gummint have chosen to operate their campaign on the moral high ground ("If you speed, be prepared to kill"), any apparent personal weakness by those charged with enforcement is natcherly judged harshly by the public.
Not of the cops' making but that's the environment they're working in.

A conviction for exceeding 100kph wouldn't have ended his career. How do I know? Because I have seen others convicted of the same offence who weren't sacked or otherwise encouraged to resign.
I'm willing to bet that the guy might have had other performance orientated issues and the speeding thing was just the last straw. Either that or he has a desire to join KB and become the new Lou.

He'll be far to young and stupid (just left the Police and all), he'll need years of experience to develop the requisite vitriol.
But, having said that, I would accept a protege for a suitable training fee.

If he'd been a general duties cop I might have felt a modicum of sympathy for the guy, after all, he was still going slower than I probably hit on the way to work this morning, but a serving member of the Highway Patrol? These are the same anally retentive fellas and fellesses that enforce Andy's bollocks. No sympathy at all.
What is the core function of their job? Busting people for speeding and if they're really lucky, busting em for doing something dangerous on the road. Road safety. Isn't 162km/h really really really f***ing dangerous? Well they tell us it is!
Imagine how things would go down if a drug squad member got busted selling P? Would we all be climbing on the band wagon and saying how human he was, he did the honorable thing by resigning, must have had other performance issues besides the drug dealing that lead to his resignation... don't think so batman.

162, 122, 186, 105, 212, 191... blah blah... they're meaningless numbers on paper. 162 kph - so fucking what! Only brainwashed handwringers would piss their pants over it. We all know grunty bikes hit the ton in seconds. The dumb cop got caught because he stuffed up. Most likely just wet behind the ears is all. If it's empty road, bugger-all traffic, no danger, then big deal! Chill out. You can bet Redson or Redfield or whoever the hell he is - is an arsehole in real life. Wrecking a workmates' life because of a few pathetic bullshit figures on some bullshit electronic gadget - makes Redland a queer c**nt - bottom line. The cop had his whole career and future hanging completely on Redlins whim for those few long minutes they faced each other, and they both knew it. Reddon chose to fuck over his brother in arms. End of story.

Not a cop Spud. Just a neutral armchair observer giving an opinion of what happened. Could be right - could be wrong. Maybe the speeding cop was a bigger arsehole than Reddon, who knows. Who cares. As far as I'm concerned, if a biker gets busted for speeding, the biker needs to wear it. Take it on the chin. It's his/hers own fault for not being switched on. Not alert. Dopey. Speed amongst traffic and you know damn well you're taking a risk at capture. That's a no-brainer. Tough luck. If the cop behaves like an arsehole - then double tough luck. Still - if a cop behaves like an arsehole, then he/she is an arsehole no?
The shit-head cops stuff it all up for the halfway decent cops(are there many halfway decent cops?) The shit-head bikers stuff it all up for the halfway decent bikers(MOST bikers are halfway decent types) And so it goes on. Nothings gonna change. This life is way too short for bitching and crying.
