taupo extravaganza produced some fantastic racing on the weekend with the mx 2 being the most hotly contested ,the 2 xtrokes won the day and begs the question is a 4 stroke mx2 bike a knife to a gun fight?rhys carter being the only 4 stroke to feature in the top 5,both cmr and jcr opting to go 2t seems odds on the nats will see more

Kane Lamont was on 4 stroke as well, and won the first race, going away, so 2 out of the top 3 were 4 strokes,

Are they 125's two strokes vs 250 4's? or are 250 two strokes allowed in MX2 now?

I think all comes down to who is riding the bike.

250 2 strokes have been in the MX2 class since 2006, we were the first in the world to do it, Australia and now Canada have now followed us,

Some people can ride 250 2 t's faster, and they do have their advantages, esp off the start, but they are more tiring to ride,

Scotty won on the weekend on a 2 stroke, but he won the title on a four stroke earlier in the year,

It may come down to the type of track and the conditions on the day as to what's best in the 2 verses 4 debate.
There's no one rider dominating MX2 at the moment they all seem capable of winning providing they get the holeshot or top 3, they are that level it seems.

Darryl King talked about the 2T vs 4T thing a couple of years ago in DRD when he was racing his YZ, his opinion was much as you say, some tracks the 2T had an advantage, some tracks the 4T did. He reckoned racecraft and experience made more of a difference.

As literally the slowest guy on the track that day (first time there ever) I can confidently say if you were lacking skill like me then 4 stroke was definitely the way to go. It was an entirely new kind of gnarly I have not previously experienced.

i thought that was one of the easier Taupo's i have ridden in a few years, you should have tried to ride the saw dust section when it was new, it was a nightmare, the new ripping method made the practice alot harder tho,
