By an actual Movie Critic Person, no less...

"... that's pretty much what this is: porn for bikers"

"watchable and even a little enjoyable, in a perverse sort of way"

As you can tell, he's a non-biker. He even makes the horrible error of referring to the sprotbikes in the movie as 'hogs'. The review gives you a decent idea of what to expect, though:

And yes, I'll be abandoning my usual Snooty Movie Snob attitude and going to see it, it's about time for some proper bike porn on the big screen :2thumbsup

Heh.

Is that a response to (a) the movie, (b) the critic or (c) something intangible about me that you just don't like very much? :bleh:

Have you seen "Stone" Jack? I think you'd find it more sutable to your tastes. Its an Australian biker movie from the 70s. It features the Z900s, I think. It has some awesome sceans in it. I never knew thoes old things (new at the time) could be ridden like that. :shit:

yeah I made the fatal mistake of wasting my time and money on watching biker boyz. bit of a shame since it had old Morpheus in it, apparently he is a biker.

who's heard that song... "lift it, shift it, higher than the ceiling, ooh baby it's the ultimate feeling"... is that about wheelies? I thought 'lift it, shift it' was about pulling wheelstands.

A response to the movie and the critic.
As for you,Well you seem like a likable enough fella :)
Hmmmmm Stone,Yeah I kind,a liked the bike sceens But the funeral was a bit silly.BTW the guy who rode the yellow 900 and has a Texan acsent is a good mate of mine. The bike that went off the cliff was in fact a 350/4 Honda not a
Z900.My all time favourite is still Eazy Rider but even that is pretty dated now days. The Wild one is a classic but I always root for the bad guy,J Dean just never did much for me.As for Biker boyz, what a joke!
That british Rocker Movie That I can,t remember the name of was quite interesting I thought,But then I would aye!
All in all, I think most producers will stuff it up when it comes to bike movies.
They just don't seem to get it.

That leap off the cliff was unreal. I don't think you'd see stunt men trying that out for real these days. Guys back then must have been a bit wacked out but it was pretty spectacular to watch (no computer effects, just the real thing)

I think that movie captured something special. Hard to define but it's always been one of my favourites. I kinda identify with the Dennis Hopper character.

Yeah,On Any Sunday....I converted your BMP attachments to JPG making them less than one tenth the BMP filesize (easier for users to download) and it also displays them as thumbnails.

"Quadraphenia"? I do remember that I saw it, but can't really remember anything much about it. Must be alzheimers.

I saw Stone at the movies, it was pretty cool in it's time. I recently watched it again courtesy of Bugsplat (on video). Seems very tame now, and a bit silly, though also a bit violent really for my taste. Nonetheless more realistic bike-wise than a lot of movies. Yes, they were Kawasaki 900's, Z1's. And Stone had a Norton Commando.

Thanks - I took them straight off my DVD,but can't seem to find the thingy that changes them to JPG,I've seen it,somewhere.

The Great Escape sure....but there is another McQueen WWII bike movie where they jump the Triumph over the prison fence, then get very loose on a dirt road - I can't find those scense on Great Escape,so it must be another.

Ever seen the Evel Kinevel movies - there's some damn good riding in there, and the American hype is so over the top it brings tears to your eyes! Seeing him crash at Ceasers Palace is a scary moment.

Quadraphenia,,Yeah thats the one,Probably not such a great movie but the era and style really turns me crank.
I'm not sure which one it was, but in one of the On any sunday movies there is a shot of a guy vanishing down a mine shaft.WOW!!!!!!!!
In more resent times there is The Crusty Demons,They have got me a bruise or two when riding me XR <_<

Quadraphenia - Sting's debut movie appearance as the king of the mods, yes?
They really liked their mirrors in those days - talk about living in the past !!
