hi all
just in the process of buying a 07 rmz 450 with a 490 kit on it.
was wondering if anyone out there has the 490 kit and whether there were
any underlying issues to be aware of.
cheers

I assume it's the Athena kit? My general impression of their stuff (having tried an Athena kitted WR290) is they are quality kits. A quick google only shows some issues with jetting after the conversion. That, and the fact it goes from being a typical 450 (i.e. not exactly shy of power) to an arm-stretching animal with the kit.

Seems to be popular with the motard crowd, but as few people outside of the AMA MX1 can really use a 450, I'm not sure what kind of nutcase needs more power on the dirt.

turns out its a 500 kit. they were building motard but after spending 6.5k on it found the power on lift and not at the top needed for motard, after riding it i was well impressed with its unruly power. im 6"2 and about 100 kg so need a big bike ,my 650 berg just doesnt have the handling on the track but hard to keep up with on open ground, so i spose im that nut case. hope it doesnt kill me.
