Located in Henderson (63 Mihini Road) just need to pour the 160m3 of concrete, set up the security fencing this week and she's all done :)

Purchased a block of land off Swanson Road specifically to conduct Motorcycling Testing and Training - BHS and also the new CBT (when that comes in on the 1st March 2014)

:scooter: We plan to open on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th November and has capacity to run two Basic Handling Skills Test courses at the same time. More Space to learn in, NO MORE CRAMPED car parks to learn in! :wari:

As an opening special for Kiwibiker members - $80 for BHS Test only (Bike Hire Included) and $20 off every other course (http://www.ridertraining.co.nz/594.html), until 1st December. Mention 'KIWIBIKER' to receive this discount. Applies to BHS courses only.

Best way to contact us for a booking is through email info@ridertraining.co.nz
Or txt / iMessage 0210334766

We are installing floodlights around the premises so we can do training in the evenings Monday-Thursday from 3pm to 9pm at night, as well as weekends at more convenient hours for clients in big open spaces that are learner friendly/safe:yes:

So why use Ridertraining.co.nz (http://www.ridertraining.co.nz)?

We specialise in teaching total beginners how to ride
You can book and pay on the day. We don't try to grab your money by asking upfront before letting you know where our training ground is. (However we do have an option of paying via Bank Transfer if you wish, our bank details are on our Website.)
We only do 1 on 1 Training with the student (unless specified otherwise). We are not into 'group therapy' of up to 4-6 students at a time, (as the student isn’t getting a good deal of time with the Instructor).
Our "commitment and promise" to all who use us as a Premier Riding School to get their motorcycle Licence is, we won't yell / growl / abuse / throw items at the student and it will always be a relaxed, fun, safe but fair environment to learn in.
We DO NOT use remote controls on our Training Motorcycles (to shut them down if something goes wrong). As a student you do not learn anything by this. We will teach you how to save yourself properly - when you do venture out onto the road you will know how to control the Motorcycle, not the Motorcycle control you.
Our Motorcycle training bikes are fun to ride - we have a fleet of Yamaha Trickers 250cc and for the shorter people (<5 ft 2 or by choice) we have a Suzuki GN125cc as well.
We often have a latest model Suzuki demonstrator for our students to test drive (at the moment we have a brand new GW250 Inazuma)
You are always welcome to drop in, say hello and see how the BHS is done. :scooter:

We also get out there and ride our Motorcycles! ;)

I was thinking - are you having anything special done to the surface of the concrete?

I especially hate it when they polish the concrete surface in car parks - so slippery.

That's pretty cool. Have always had the idea to get a piece of land in the middle of nowhere and make a private track to hoon around on. One day..

The best thing about this training ground is its size and lack of objects / obstacles - Its damn hard to find a safe carpark large enough in Auckland to conduct Rider Training, let alone the Basic Handling Skills Test. Any large space can have cars parked / or can have cars left overnight in (for instance Massey University) which makes it frustrating as well as stressful  for us Instructors (let alone the poor student who wonders why they have to ride in a small space). They can also have painted white lines (which become slippery when wet). These are some of the main reasons why we decided to invest in the future of NZ Motorcycling and purchase this land - so we can teach students knowing they are safe.

As for the concrete, it won't be polished or we would have to hire it out as a skidpan

Fences are up, with the top wires to be completed and re-tightened. Drainage completed with the basecourse to be spread then the 'big pour' to happen early next week. Still ontrack for opening next weekend 16th November.

Random question. We have a track bike thats not been ridden for over a year and needs a little pootle without taking it to a track. One evening could I bring it round to cruise around the area? I expect to pay a little for this and Im not looking at any real speed involved. Just get the bike warmed up and make sure its safe for use. I doubt it would be until later on sometime. Want to get it ready for a track day in Jan.

As I said Im not after speed, just to make sure it does every thing it should.

Haven't given much thought what else we could use it for, it would make a mean as track for gokarting or even pocketbikes.... I'll talk to Steve and see what he says.

Taken Friday

Fence is almost finished, ground has been laid with coarse gravel then compacted, 'fines' laid down over 1/3
Since then all ground prep work has been completed - just waiting for the trucks to roll in first thing tomorrow morning. Steve will be taking photos

Concrete goes in tomorrow!

Everything is looking good for Opening Day - Saturday 16th... :wari:

Still have spaces available for BHS training and Testing but we are filling fast!

Restricted CBT1 and Full Licence CBT2 packages Testing on Saturdays and Sundays
We do all our testing on the Weekends so you don't have to take time off work during the Week

Okay, the CBT has been very popular! So much that I don't have much spare time anymore and The BKing is becoming a common sight on the roads out West or parked up at Westgate waiting for my next student

CBT1 - Learners going for a Restricted
This has been the most popular of the two tests, doing two of these for every CBT2. Nearly every student is opting for training, (which is wise) gives the chance to make sure there are no bad habits formed and also give advice / improvements. Also practise what is in the actual test.

Style of riding - Little bit of urban riding with a mix of open road Motorway and Country roads for the ride test.

CBT2 - Restricted to Full
Just to clarify, you can do this at any time when you hold a Restricted. You don't need to wait for the 12 months before sitting the test, just complete the test and hold onto the cert until the 12 months from the day you acquired your Restricted from then apply for the Full.

Style of riding - No urban, only open country roads for the ride test.

We are conducting CBT training and testing on Saturday and Sundays - you do need to provide your own road legal LAMS approved motorcycle that is capable of sustaining highway speeds. If you don't have one, you can hire from either Coleman's Suzuki, Holeshot Suzuki or Yamaha on Barry's Point Road Takapuna. We work on a first in, first served basis.

CBT1 Resticted Test only $180 or CBT1+ Training+Test $280
CBT2 Full Licence Test only $160 or CBT2+ Training+Test $260

Our "commitment and promise" to all who use us as a Premier Riding School to get their motorcycle Licence is, we won't yell / growl / abuse / throw items at the student and it will always be a relaxed, fun, safe but fair environment to learn in.

We DO NOT use remote controls on our Training Motorcycles (to shut them down if something goes wrong). As a student you do not learn anything by this. We will teach you how to save yourself properly - when you do venture out onto the road you will know how to control the Motorcycle, not the Motorcycle control you.

Our Motorcycle training bikes are fun to ride - we have a fleet of Yamaha Trickers 250cc and for the shorter people (<5 ft 2 or by choice) we have 3 Suzuki GN125cc Motorbikes as well.

You are always welcome to drop in, say hello and see the Purpose built training Training Facilities and how the BHS is done.

Hopefully it'll pay out for you, so we can get better riders pout there. Best wishes from down South.

So why use Ridertraining.co.nz?

Hi All,

We have decided to finish up on doing BHS training and Testing. (Got an offer we couldn't refuse on the Training Grounds).

We are still continuing to do CBTA Training and Testing - so can now focus all of our attention on this.

Those who know us, understand that we work a stupid amount of hours and this was also another reason to drop BHS. Was nice to get out for a ride on the Harley last weekend - something we haven't been able to do since the end of Jan.

Thanks to all who have supported us : we may get to come out to some KB rides again!
