Dang nab it... Theres like 14 freakin doors...
So whats the best way to paint them? Take em all off and spray them in the garage? (or outside if its nice). If so - use what?
This?

Paying someone else to do it works fairly well for me

Mixed success with the Wanger guns.

having just sprayed an entire 2 storey 200 odd square house, i can safely say, fuck that.
according to bunnings hos, the wagners get returned often. an ozito for twice the price (still chine$e shit afaik) (~500) managed to chuck some 60 litres on everything in about 6-8 hours.
the masking took some 4 days.
the machine itself did the trick, felt solid, no silly noises, no hoses falling off etc. (managed to kill an ozito orbital - shat the bearings with a mere 200 square house.) it surged a lot when the pressure was on "roller" setting, but didn't use any less paint than on "low spray"
TBH, i'd have been happier using my airgun. the paint (ppg) was bouncy as shit and went on heavy (but nice) the british paints (wet area) went on a lot nicer, which will be closer to what you would have on a door. (semi-gloss/ hard wearing) so if you do get an airless (of any variety) go with british paints.
but if you have an airgun in the garage, get happy with that. if you can put a good finish on with it, there's no advantage to getting an airless.
PLUS, that looks like a siphon feed airless, so your paint volume is only 1lt/time, probably fine for doors but useless for anything else. and it's all in one, so probably quite weighty to swing.

also dont skimp on the breathing gear. low voc is only low by comparison, get at least a disposable carbon paint/vapour face mask (20$?) not the shitty white DUST masks, but if you're intending to do a bit m0ar, get a proper cartridge type respirator.

I prefer using a roller for the walls and brushes for joinery.
I do prefer a sprayed finish for doors.

Errr...
"Paint"?
:shifty:
* Seriously, do NOT get the wagner in the trademe advert.
Grab a small compressor and spray them properly.
Even better is just hitting them with a random orbit sander and then roller paint them.
We have done them between two saw-horses. Put a 100mm nail in the middle of each end of the door (top & bottom) so you can then rotissere them once one side has been painted. Just flip over and do the other side.
No runs either!

Yeah I have a compresor and spray gun - just can't see it blowing water based enamel...
I need to experiment with rollers as the ones I have are leaving an awful finish... Gah! Bloody doors... Hates them I do...

My compressor handles it fine, its just a cheapo repco jobby that I use with a decent sagola spray gun. Try painting some scraps first, till you get a brew your happy with.:2thumbsup

I just mix a bit of water in and then play around until it comes right, can be of a bit of a shit to get right though with enamel paints. Air less would be a better spray option, but a normal compressor can get good results if you persist.

Recently did a bunch of doors at my place, sprayed the grooved ones (well someone else did) because they're an arse to paint, did the flat ones with a 6mm roller and they came up pretty good. Just gave them a sand to get rid of any nasties, 2 coats of undercoat and another sand, 2 coats of topcoat and done.

Nah. Piss easy.
Just thin it gradually until you hold up the stirring stick and it all dribbles off under a second or two *.
* Obviously there will be a few drops after that, but the bulk scoots off damn quickly. (another reason to have flat surfaces or REALLY intense lights to see where you have sprayed!)

Must be just me then, always seems to take me a while to set up for spraying enamels. :weird:

Yeah but what to spray them with?
A standard acrylic (being doors I wanted a harder paint on them to resist chipping).

You can hire a decent airless from most hire shops, whack a 10litre under it and blast away. Piece of piss. If you want hard wearing( in other words, not paint them again for a long time) use enamel. Just remember, enamel sticks to enamel and water based to water based, so if you do the doors with the same type of paint as the door jambs, they will stick to each other and one or both will end up looking like arse when you pull em apart
