View Full Version : Downloading TV series?

Does anyone know how to source and download TV series that are currently playing in the US. The first 3 parts of this series have played in NZ and the final is now on in 'Murica.

But none of the local channels have indicated any interest in showing the series here. It will be a spoiler to know the outcome (the last time the series aired here just hours after it did in the US).

I know what I'm asking is probably illegal but feckit, the alternative is to wait a year for the DVD and to already know the outcome.

Step 1: Download utorrent. Get an old version - they bloated up the new versions, where the beauty of the app was supposed to be its size and simplicity (hence the name). Get this version: http://www.oldapps.com/utorrent.php?old_utorrent=8134

Step 2: Visit http://showrss.info/ and create an account. I don't think you need to supply an email address, but if you do, use a throw-away one from http://10minutemail.com - no sense in leaving any info behind for this.

Step 3: In "Your Shows", add the shows you want to your list. What you're doing with ShowRSS is creating an RSS feed of your favourite shows - essentially you're creating a feed that will deliver your new shows each time they're released overseas (within minutes of finishing in the USA). Use the default settings for everything unless you're fussy.

Step 4: In ShowRSS click "Feeds" and click the Generate button next to the Your Personal Feed option. Leave the boxes as-is unless you're fussy. Copy the generated URL for Your Custom RSS Feed.

Step 5: In utorrent (I'm doing this by memory because I don't have utorrent on my work PC) click the File menu -> Add RSS Feed (or something like this, follow your nose) and paste the URL. If you get an options box, check the Download Episodes Automatically box (or not, your choice).

This all seems like a lot, but now everything is set up and ready for you with no further searching needed. You can go back to ShowRSS and add new shows to your feed any time you like. As each new show is released the feed will update and utorrent will download the episode automatically. If you didn't set it to download automatically, click the RSS feed in the left hand pane in utorrent and it will show a list of all the recent episodes - double click to start downloading. Stop each download once it has finished or you'll chew up a lot of bandwidth re-uploading the episode to other users.

Good luck.

Check out www.torrents.to, which is basically a search engine for torrents as it allows you to select from many different torrent sites at the top of the page, then use whatever BitTorrent (protocol) client you want.

Piracy rules (not the Somalian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piracy_in_Somalia) kind)!

Great feedback, many thanks.

The show is Homeland.

(Even though the latest series is getting panned by the critics, I thought the last few were bloody good and I want to make up my own mind).

I loved the first ones too, but its difficult to see where it will go from here. It might just be a "starts off slow then ends with a bang" type deal.

It will definitely go to SKY and possibly even peasant TV here at some point. But who wants to watch commercials, right?

My "go to" site is extratorrent.com or torrentpond.com as a close second. If you'd rather get instant gratification just go google "project free tv" and then simply stream whatever you want to watch. Just my 2 cents. D
