look at this beast... its known as the "Hillbilly deluxe" and has taken me bout 2 months to construct. The power comes from what began life as a gl145 but has had soooooo much done to it! power is unbeleivable! Wheelstands under power at high revs in 2nd. 14:1 compression gives it a hell of a bark through the mega, that came off an american model bonnie, i chopped it. Top speed today was over the ton, and thats with the standard carb... was usin little carb for the run in.
Think i watched too many mad max movies, and episodes of monster garage. possibly too much beer too.
I can assure you all that its not just for looks, it really does have incredible power and handling!
Well im dying to hear... what do you all think????????
Dont be shy, good or bad, i wanna hear it.
Soooo much effort went into this bucket racer ($$$$$ too!)
Need to know if it impresses or not :ride:   :devil2:

Quite possibly the ugliest bucket I have ever seen, although it looks like a tidy enough job, what tread pattern is your seat done in?

25th August 2005, 20:53
My thoughts: It looks like I built it. Not good.
However, I reckon it's fucken cool (probably 'cause I built it). Is that a GSXR250 frame? Or maybe a GF250?
I think your handle bars are too high. You wont get the feel from the front you need without a bit more weight on the wheel.
And 100mph? Dude! where the hell are you going to need that sorta speed on a bucket track?
Lastly. Can I have a go?
Bren_chch
25th August 2005, 20:56
what front end is that?
froggyfrenchman
25th August 2005, 20:57
100mph was figured by folling with vfr800. the speed and power is mostly down low, good for bucket track. was built ugly on pourpose, have standard tank seat ect at home. The frame is 400 impulse

seat is bridgestone truck retread

*In the voice of the horse from Ren & Stimpy* 'no sir I dont like it'
But having said that theres been a lot a thought go into it, what have you done to the motor... surley that top end speed is all in the gearing, which isent going to help with track performance apart from hauling arse down the straights.
Speaking of which altho it has its own look.... it dosent look to be set up the best for racing, is that your plans for the bike?
Cos if it is then stay tuned for a national Blenhiem bucket meet later in the year (Labour w/e) :ride:
What?

The gearing is still standard gl145 road gear. Motor?... well...
As for riding posistion.... There is a suprisingly large amount of weight on the front wheel (look how far foward rider sits) and the frame is still largly suzuki 400 impulse, more stiff than all the commuter frames, tripple disks = stop fast.
The power all comes on down low and mid revs, but saying that... it dosnt fuck around at high revs either.
Hope this has explained a bit..... :Punk:

Looks mean and ugly (used as a compliment of course!) makes me want to start collecting bits. How much trouble would it be to get something like that (I wouldn't paint it I'd splash mud on it) road legal assuming I bolted together bits without modifying them? Sounds like I could have something learner legal (under 250cc) thats more fun than the GN. I touch the pegs down every day and ride with my wrist right 'round. BORING.

Since people who are into this kind of thing will be looking here (and sorry to steal the thread, I'll just borrow it). Is there a better make or model or type of bike to start collecting bits for if I want to build a naked bike? I'd start looking for bits now and hope to end up with something in the 400-600cc range. Hints from anyone on where to start or what to look for, friendly wreckers etc would be awesome. I've got a while left on my looners / restricted so I have just over a year to do it.
What?

Haha you heard the man! he doesn't think YOU can handle one of his puppies! And if anyone getting to ride it, IT'S ME!!!.
And all you people who think its ugly, well the name explaines it 'Hillbilly Deluxe' and to top it all off its ridden by a mullet wearing bloke. It's all meant to go togeather. Nice combo :woohoo:

29th August 2005, 13:18
I reckon the high front end could be an advantage as the track surface at Waipawa is more suited to super-motard riding!. I.e watch out for the 3rd pothole on the right before that there hairpin!
Should be interesting to see how it goes

Seems a waste of a good motor to me, those wheels look heavy and you probably don't need twin discs on a bucket. Lower the front end, get a decent seat made up, etc and you could have something. Otherwise look for a RS125 rolling chassis....
ps, get some friggen gloves while youre at it!! :oi-grr:

rims are alloy, like twin brakes, front has been lowered, have std tank and seat... like my 1s better. have all the gear, wear it too! that pic was taken on road in front of my house.. anyway, each to their own i suppose
