Tyre pressure gauge?

I'm after a decent tyre pressure gauge. I've heard good things about the Longacre gauges, but I can't find them in NZ for less than $100 on Trademe which is a bit much. I'm willing to spend around $60, but I want something very accurate that's going to last a long time. A flexible hose on the gauge (no, not that kind you sick fuck) is a must as the brake discs are pretty big. I prefer analog over digital. No need to worry about batteries. Also if you leave an LCD screen in the sun it can't be read (you need to let it cool down in the shade for a few minutes).

You don't need to worry about someone unaccustomed the gauge changing units instead of turning it off.

Analog never fails in my opinion. Unless you need to know PSI to the decimal point.

Oxford digital, with a swivel head. Easy enough to get around the discs on my Busa, and it has a bleed down function so you can pump up the tyres then gently trickle the pressure down to the nearest 0.1 psi.

Battery lasts for a couple of years no sweat.

Analogue? It's 2013 for crying out loud....

pretty much what I use. have had it for a few years now. have tested it against a few friends more expensive gauges from time to time to see how accurate it is, been bang on every time.

Yep i have a plastic one, cam as part of a set. Is as accurate as everyone else's.

Not like I'm racing GP bikes.

I have an Accu-Gauge (it must be accurate, with a name like that, amirite?). Bought from George Henry on Manchester St. It reads in psi which is all I know about. meets your criteria.

no idea how much it cost. What I can tell you is that it is at least 15 years old so value for money wise you cant go wrong.

I've been using one of these for about 2 years now at the racetrack and its still going well, I use the 0-60 psi Flexi hose model.

Been looking this up a bit myself too.

This (http://www.motorcyclenews.com/upload/Ride%20Magazine/Product%20test%20pdfs/9%20SEP08%20Pressure%20gauge%20test.pdf) was an interesting read, albeit an overseas article.

Takeaways:

1. Pencil gauge, analog dial gauge, digital... accuracy seems fairly even between those types.
2. Most gauges give both accurate and repeatable results - cheap or not

I'd just buy something that is easy to use and take your personal preference as to analog/digital/pencil

Still use a bicycle type pump to put air in tyres of bike and car too, so I'm only part dinosaur :facepalm:

Some businesses are required to have their guages calibrated, IIRC the likes of Firestine/Bridgestone or motorcycle shops who work with racing bikes? If you are known at such a place take your guage in and ask to compare it to theirs, then you will know where yours fits in the scheme of things.

My digital Accugage reads true, the analogue one reads 1lb low. Near enough for Government work...
